Fred Taylor vs Dominic Rhodes (1 Viewer)

If you had a choice between F.Taylor or D.Rhodes who would you take and why?

Here are some questions I can't seem to answer

a) Is F.Taylor clearly the man in Jax?

b) Will he get the goal line carries?

c) What role will M.Drew play?

d) Project his final 2006 numbers

a) How much will J.Addai cut into D.Rhodes numbers?

b) Will D.Rhodes keep the starting job?

c) Project Rhodes season long numbers.

Who is the better choice of these two for the entire season?

I like the value of both backs this season, but If I had to choose one it would be Fred Taylor.

1) He is clearly a much more skilled player, and has had some great years.

2) He is fully fit and healthy. He looked very quick in his limited snaps this pre-season and is clearly the #1 RB on that team and their best playmaker.

3) I do think he will get his goalline chances now that Jones is on the shelf for the year.

4) Although Rhodes is a decent looking back he will share the ball more than Taylor. The Colts seem determined to get Addai involved more and more as the season progresses. I still think Rhodes can put up 1K and 6-7 TD's but Taylors upside is better IMO. They are a run first team and will pound the rock 25-30 times a game. The Colts will be an aerial highlight film all year, and rightfully so when you have the fab 3 in Manning, Marvin and Wayne.

5) Maurice Drew will return kicks and be used as a change of pace.

Taylor's projection for me is 1300 yards rushing for 6 TD's and 30 Receptions for 200 yards and 1 TD.

I see a bounce back year for Fred Taylor and a top 15 finish.

I guess the question is how much of the job will Addai steal?

I am in the camp that Rhodes will keep the job all year as long as he produces. I believe Addai is nothing more than a third down back in the NFL. But there are those who insist he is a big time talent. Not from what I have seen in college and limited pre-season work. Also the Colts offense is quite complex and Rhodes knows it like second nature and they are gunning for the Championship. Addai will slowly work into the game plan IMO and only if he proves to be effective. I see Rhodes getting 20 Carries a game if things are going well and Addai getting 5-7. It is just Taylor has proven to be an elite talent and looks primed for a big year. I like his upside a ton more this season. And I feel a lot more confident he will produce RB2 numbers and outperform his curent ADP.I have thought of Rhodes as nothing more than a solid RB3 in deep leagues that start 3, or good bye week/injury depth on your bench. Where as I think you can feel pretty good about starting Fred Taylor week in week out for most of the year. Thing is most people have been able to draft Taylor as there 3rd RB because of his ADP.

Gotta go with Fred Taylor. He has a bad reputation and that is good because that means he is out to prove something from what I have read. He will get the majority of carries and goaline carries for his team. Another thing is he can probably be had much later in the draft therefore he presents value when and if you drafted him. Rhodes will be good too but he will be splitting more time I feel with Addai. Fred Taylor went in the 6th round 1 pick before I was going to pick him up as a 4th RB. There are hardly any starting RB's that get the majority of the carries that can be picked in the 6th round.

This is a tough one. If Rhodes keeps the job (not rbbc)he could put up great numbers, Taylor is the safer of the two picks.I guess it depends wat other rb's you have on your team.

why is rhodes NOT a safe pick? will addai (a rookie who hasn't looked great) really cut into rhodes (a vet who knows the system) numbers that much? i really don't know what to think, but it seems like i have rhodes projected much higher than most on these boards .. i mean .. isn't he the starting RB for indy? that means a lot right there ...

I think Taylor will be a much better RB this year if he remains healthy for the season. Rhodes just doesn't appeal to me that much...did you see Taylor splitting every other carry with Toefield..? I predict 1100-1200 and 6-8 TD's out of Taylor and about 800-900 and 5-6 out of Rhodes.

With the first week in the books how do you feel about this question now?I actually think Rhodes may have more to offer in the long run. The only thing that would change my opinion is that Addai might take the starting role around mid year. Also, Taylor's long injury history. With that in mind how would you take of the two?

I go with Rhodes. Taylor's ceiling is known, and often lowered by injury. Rhodes' ceiling is wide open if he can step in and perform in a very explosive offense. I went after him just because of the remote possibility of Edge-like production, which Taylor can never attain. In Indy, anything is possible.

Rhodes will lose the starting gig by week 4. Why would the Colts spend a first round pick on Addai and not give him a shot to start? Rhodes is a career backup, he is clearly not the answer.

I kinda like Addai but this is not a :goodposting: Addai has to earn the job, and thus far he hasn't done much. Rhodes hasn't been spectacular either, so the door is open. No way will the job be given to Addai unless he proves he's the more effective guy on the field. So far, he hasn't. As for career backup, Rhodes seemed to do okay for himself stepping in for Edge after he tore his ACL.

Why do so many people feel Rhodes will lose the job by the 5th or 6th week?Is Addai that good? What would you say is the ceiling and floor for Rhodes,Taylor and Addai?

It looks like Taylor for Rhodes would be an even swap. Both have positives and negitives. You just have to get lucky I guess.
