I thought it would be a good idea for dynasty and keeper leagues to create a list of contract year players and the players who might replace them if they leave.

I'll start with a couple

FA : Dwayne Bowe

Replace by : Jon Baldwin

FA : Matt Schaub

Replace by : T.J. Yates

Bowe will want 40 M contract or more, so he could walk. I think a lot depends on how he does this year. He has been a good, but inconsistent WR. Can he bring it every week? I wouldn't want to give him that huge pay day right now if I were a GM. But he is talented enough to justify the big pay day if he can become more consistent.

would love to see Dwayne Bowe with an above average QB, not the garbage that KC has been trotting out there.

I know the purpose of this thread isn't to shoot down ideas, but I feel obligated to point out that this won't happen. At least I can't envision it. The Texans will have 3 main guys to re-sign next year: Connor Barwin, Duane Brown, and Matt Schaub. I think they sign all three, with Barwin being my guess for most likely to get paid elsewhere.

Never say never! but yeah it probably won't happen, but he's still a FA in 2013.Another one isFA : Reggie Bush Replace by : Daniel Thomas and/or Lamar Miller

FA: Mendy

Replaced by: Redman

FA: J Stew

Replaced by: (if you want to call it that) D Williams and Tolbert in a 60/40

FA: Reggie Bush

Replaced by: D Thomas and L Miller in a thunder-lightning combo (might happen this year)

FA: Greg Jennings (ain't leaving)

Replaced by: doesn't really matter, anyone Rodgers throws to is fantasy gold

I almost started a similar thread recently in terms of trying to figure out value.

The value of Baldwin is tied pretty closely to where Bowe ends up.

The value of Cobb is tied pretty closely to if Jennings leaves.

The Pats WR/TEs values are impacted pretty heavily by whether Welker is back after this season.

Michael Bush is a guy who could end up with a big role potentially if Forte isn't back beyond this year.

Deangelo Williams in Carolina w/ Stewart.

Redman and co. in Pittsburgh with Mendy a FA.

Antonio Brown and Manny Sanders if Mike Wallace doesn't re-sign.

A real longshot but Bernard Pierce if Ray Rice negotiations break down.

If anyone has any real insight into the thinking of these teams, it would be much appreciated.

Not seeing it. If Forte isn't back next year, the 2013 starter isn't on the Bears roster right now.

why does it matter if Bowe is there? On one hand Id rather have Bowe drawing coverage

Jonathan Stewart signed a contract extension:

The deal is worth a total of $37.811 million over the next six seasons, includes $23 million in guaranteed money and will pay out just over $21 million over the next three seasons (2012-14). According to a source with knowledge of the details of Stewart's contract, I can add that the $9 million option bonus in 2014 is to be exercised between the first and 10th day of the 2014 league year.

Steven Jackson a UFA

Replaced by: Pead and Richardson

This was a good post, but as things have shifted it looks like it needs an update. You were spot on in that Mendy is certainly gone. He'll be replaced by whoever emerges between Dwyer and a rookie. Redman has looked good lately but it seems Tomlin has made his mind up and see Redman as a complement to Dwyer. I doubt he has enough faith to give Dwyer the job, though, so I expect a rookie, but wouldn't rule out a FA.It now appears that DeAngelo is likely to move on and will be a guy to watch. He'll be a bit old, but should have more tread on the tires than Thomas Jones and Curtis Martin. Even Sticky Ricky had a pretty damn good season a couple years ago. Stewart without DeAngelo could vault into the top 5 with a new offense. Is Rivera gone after this season? I hope so. I don't know where Stewart would be drafted next year if Rivera is gone, but I'd be down to reach for him.Reggie Bush wants to come back and if the price is right they'd be crazy not to bring him back. It'll be interesting to see how much attention he garners. If he is gone, Daniel Thomas has looked good at times and uninspiring in others. Miller has seen very little action, so hard to tell there.I really think they let Jennings walk. Jones and Cobb have been too good in his absence. Additionally, I think Powell could get a shot next year without Greene. He's looked marginally better so far this year. I really wish I had him on more rosters. But I wouldn't pay much because this is a team due for an overhaul. IIRC Powell was said to be a Rex Ryan pick, so a new coach could easily opt for a cheap FA or rookie similar to the Blount/Martin situation with Schiano.
