He played for Cleveland. He is better than Tim Hasselbeck put it that way. At least the guy has played in an NFL game before.

Don't have link yet but it was mentioned in an ESPN chat.

Nate Ravitz: (12:07 PM ET ) Charlie Frye traded to the Giants. No fantasy impact.

This is the only link that I've seen confirming a trade. But it does not disclose to which team he was traded.

Frye Traded

Charlie Frye Sent Packing: Browns Quarterback Traded!

According to WTAM, Charlie Frye has thrown his last pass for his hometown Cleveland Browns. The quarterback, who starred at Akron and was a 3rd round draft pick has been traded according to the radio station. The Atlanta Falcons are rumored to be the recipient of the QB. It makes sense because many believe that Frye is more of a West Coast offense QB and they brought in a coach (Bobby Petrino) to run that offense with Michael Vick before his legal troubles suspended the quarterback.

The Browns will use the roster space to clear way for Ken Dorsey who is looked at as a mentor for young Brady Quinn. It looks like Quinn will be starting sometime very soon, although Dorsey may get the nod this week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

If you announce the guy as your starter, pull him after 20 minutes, and then trade him the following week you should be FIRED.

What a catastophe that Browns organization is. I bet 90% of Madden franchise players could do a better job than that dog & pony show.

The story at that link has already changed to say he "may" have been traded.

 1. Eli Manning seriously downgraded (major fantasy impact)

2. Jared Lorenzen upgraded to QB2 in 10+ leagues (major fantasy impact)

3. Brady Quinn upgraded to QB2 in 12+ leagues (major fantasy impact)

4. Charlie Frye goes from QB2 to worthless in 12+ leagues (minor impact)

1050 ESPN Radio just reported that reports out of Cleveland indicate that Frye will be traded OR released.
Wow, what a trainwreck the Cleveland organization is. In 20 minutes Frye went from being good enough to start the opener to not even good enough to keep on the roster.

This looks like a move to acquire depth for a QB won't mind being a backup when ELi returns.

To me it says a lot more about the Giants organization screwing up for going into the season with no legit backup QB than the Browns for dumping him.

:goodposting: It makes the Browns look worse than Frye. Frye knows their system. Don't tell me he can't at least mentor Quinn in practice. He's on the roster for week 1, so his salary is guaranteed, right? What a waste of money and training camp time. They're still acting like an expansion team. Are they going to flip another coin to see who starts this week?

just read hes a Seahawk.. nice try
POSTED 1:05 p.m. EDT, September 11, 2007FRYE FLIES WESTJay Glazer of FOX reports that the Cleveland Brownshave traded quarterback Charlie Frye to the SeattleSeahawks.Terms of the deal are not yet known. On Tuesday morning, the Seahawks acquired an extradraft pick via the trade of defensive end Bryce Fisherto the Titans. Maybe that pick was sent to Clevelandfor Frye. The Seahawks previously were linked to quarterbacksKelly Holcomb, who was traded from Philly toMinnesota, and Mark Burnell, who remains with theRedskins. The addition of Frye could allow the Seahawks toincorporate Seneca Wallace more heavily into game-daypreparations at the receiver position, with theability to make Wallace the interim starter if MattHasselbeck suffers a multi-week injury. Under thatapproach, Frye would be the in-game backup. However, this would prevent the Seahawks from making Wallace orHasselbeck the extra "emergency" quarterback that isnot part of the 45-man pool of active playerson gamedays.

Ditto  Maybe Romeo should go back to coaching only the Def.

Guys, the NYG never even had play here it sounds like.....I am going to stay in this and monitor it until a mod gets here to close it.

Lets not post in here....the OP was obviously very misinformed

Can someone tell me why the Giants would even be INTERESTED in Frye? He isnt better than Lardboy, QB. Heck, is he better than Tim Hasselbeck even? Not exactly a long term solution.

Now, if the Giants sign LEFTWICH, I would be more concerned because that would be far more of a sign that Eli will miss most of the season.

Good thing for Frye maybe someone will block for him in NY.

But man.....you really have to feel for Quinn, He's gonna get KILLED in about 3 weeks.

First the long draft day episode now playing for a team that will do this to there 1st string QB. WOW!!
