Brewers remove Gagne from closer's role

The Brewers have removed Eric Gagne from the closer's role for now, though manager Ned Yost didn't name a replacement.

Guillermo Mota looks like the favorite for saves for us, but Salomon Torres is also worth grabbing in NL-only leagues. Gagne is expected to get a chance to win back the job if he turns it around. "He probably needs a little bit of a mental break," Yost said. "He's really pushing himself really hard and taking it really, really hard. We'll probably just mix and match." May. 11 - 12:53 pm et

He pitched 27 pitches the day before and Torres didnt pitch at all. Also Torres stunk up the joint yesterday and was pulled so it wouldnt surprise me in the least to see Mota get the next chance.

Although if Mota pitches anything like Torres did it wouldn't surprise me to see a quick leash being pulled on him like the one that was pulled on Torres.

He's done it before, but his fastball is as straight as it gets. Seems stuck in the 7th inning role for Yost.

Mota just came in the 9th inning up 8-3 but STL had bases loaded and 2 outs. Cheap save!

I think I read Mota was warming up though on Sunday, they just did not bring him in.From a fantasy perspective this stinks but from a baseball perspective its nice to see Yost (of all managers) actually use his brain and be a little unconventional to get the job done.

I was watching, he was not warming up. If he was it was after the lefty was brought in after Torres already effed up his opportunity.

Not sure what the hell he's thinking. So he basically gave Gagne 2 off days as closer but then brings him in to get the save after pitching him 2 innings the night before? Crazy. Im holding onto Mota for now.
