Joey Galloway, WR TBNews: Tampa Bay WR Joey Galloway (foot) participated in limited practice on Wednesday for the Bucs. He's questionable for Week 8 at Dallas. Galloway has missed five straight weeks with his current injury.Analysis: On Monday, coach Jon Gruden said Galloway still has a ways to go. "You got to be able to play," Gruden said. "You got to be able to run all routes. You got to have the stamina to play. We got to see that, hear that and watch that on the practice field Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and if that be the case you will see him against Dallas." It sounds like Galloway might not be near a return. Don't plan on using him in Week 8 at Dallas.
He has to be close to coming back by now, no?With Garcia back at the helm, Galloway could be a nice deep threat down the stretch. Anybody hearing anything positive concerning Galloway's injury and/or status with Gruden?

I read Gruden's quote to be a kick in the pants message to Galloway to expedite his return. I remember reading that full quote somewhere else and Gruden also said that getting Galloway back in the lineup was important for what their offense wanted to do.Also:

Etc.

WR Ike Hilliard, who suffered a concussion in Sunday night's 20-10 win against Seattle, realized what happened to him "when I opened my eyes and saw seven guys standing over me." Hilliard will undergo tests this week to determine if he can play against the Cowboys, but the Bucs are expected to get a boost to their receiver corps with the return of Joey Galloway. Absent the last five games with a foot injury, Galloway had one of his busiest practices of the season Wednesday.

Galloway Optimisitic He Might Play

Tampa Bay WR Joey Galloway is optimistic he might be active this week against Dallas after missing the last five games due to a foot injury.

“Hopefully. It’s coach’s call,” Galloway said. “I feel better than I did last week. I’m hoping to have a chance to play.”

Even though Galloway played four seasons at Dallas, he is not motivated solely by the opportunity to face his former team.

“I think the importance of the game itself is the motivation,” Galloway said. “We have some goals and we feel like we’ve played pretty good up until now and this is just another step. There are a couple of things we’re working on. Like I said, hopefully this is the week I get a chance to play. We’ll evaluate today and coach will make a decision either tomorrow or Saturday.”

One thing Galloway will have to show Tampa Bay’s coaches is his ability to make cuts because of the foot injury. If Galloway is activated, he expects to slowly be integrated back into Tampa Bay’s offense.

Bucs Coach Jon Gruden said he intends to allow Antonio Bryant to play split end, Galloway’s position prior to this injury, but the receiver is not worried about a possible decrease in reps.

“I hope that’s the case,” Galloway said. “I have a role in the offense, and that role is to be able to play any position, as all the receivers do. Wherever coach chooses to use me, or use him, that’s his call, but when I am on the field, I will do whatever I can to help Antonio or any other guy out there.”

Galloway and Garcia are very simpatico - once Galloway is fully healthy, I expect him to team with Bryant in a sort of 1A/1B paradigm similar to (though on a less explosive scale) to Fitzgerald/Boldin.

I am pretty high on the Tampa Bay attack in the second half of the year. Garcia seems to have gotten his head straight after the benching/pre-season Brett Favre drama (his wife becoming pregnant seems to have lifted him out of the doldrums and focussed him on the task at hand) and with Bryant/Galloway as options and Dunn (assuming his back calms down)/Graham to provide a 1-2 punch in the running game, this could be a seriously scary offense in the stretch run, in my opinion.

I am looking forward to the Carolina/Tampa race to the NFC South crown this year. It'll be very entertaining, in my opinion, with N'Arlins adding an "X" factor to the scenario. Good Stuff.

Joey Galloway is not listed on the injury report this week. If he's available in your league, he could prove to be a decent mid-season ww acquisition.

I heard Bryant will still be the #1 when Joey returns.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Seems like there are four WRs fighting for catches. A great thing if you're Gruden, notsomuch if you own any of them in FF.Nothing more than a feeling, but I think Bryant does wind up leading the team down the stretch.
