Game Thread W1 - Seattle v Buffalo (1 Viewer)

Burleson down with a non contact knee injury. Looked just like Branch's last year. Hope it's not as bad. I know it's just the first game, but the season is looking bleak so far.

Kirk Chambers owning Kerney today.

awesome fake FG leads to a TD!!!!!!!!!!

Wow how embarrassing - Seattle looking like they never got off the plane.

LOL @ Holmgren. He has that, "maybe I should have retired" look about him. Maybe he should have, he's gonna earn his paycheck this year. They're going to have to pull a rabbit outta there ### to get 7-8 wins at home this year with this team.

Only consolation right now is that the Rams are getting blanked worse than us. Hope AZ and SF tie.

Worst......opening day......ever

Let's make a list.

More bad things that could happen to Seattle today.

1. Hasselbeck out for season with another shot to the back

2.

3.

Next?

meh, what a waist of time. I'd rather work than watch this crap. enjoy the game fellas, i'll tune back in when they're in the friendly confines of quest field.

As a Bills fan, it's tough to get too high from today's win. Seattle's offense was completely impotent with all of their injuries. And this would still have been a close game if it were not for our outstanding special teams work.

I think next week's game at Jacksonville should be a much more difficult test.

Regardless, the two thing that really struck out to me today were (i) the additions of Stroud and Johnson on our defensive line, and (ii) the solid play of Kirk Chambers at RT. Stroud and Johnson were a presence the whole game and prevented double teams on our ends. It's been far too long since we've had good interior line play.

Chambers did not seem to provide much of a push in the running game, but he got the job done in pass protection. Obviously he returns to the bench once Peters is ready, but it is good to know we have good depth at that position in case of injuries later this season.

didn't see the game but from reading the thread and looking at the box score seems to have been a tough day for the hawks. curious to hear how courtney taylor looked. i see he had 2 catches for 19 yards but i was wondering how many times he was targeted, etc - in other words, is he worth holding on to? did he see more targets after burleson left with his injury?

Taylor was awful. Some early drops and nothing special after that. Hr fit right in with the other WRs though.

I really hope Buffalo is as good as they look today
Buffalo is good.
Buffalo's D is good.Buffalo's special teams is REALLY good.Buffalo's offensive line is surprisingly good.Marshawn Lynch is good.Trent Edwards is not good. He's pedestrian at best. His deep passes are terrible. His stats are deceptive, as the Bills would die every time he had to make a first down. It felt like they had no offensive rhythm until the defense and special teams put them ahead. I fear what he'll be like next week against a class-A defense in the Jags.

That about covers it.

He underthrew Evans on a deep ball, missed Evans on the first TD drive on the play before the Lynch TD (the announcers said it was a "tight window" but I think the ball could've been thrown sooner), and misfired on a couple short passes. He was lousy in the rain. All fair criticism.I think the notion that his deep ball is terrible in general - is questionable at best. He doesn't have a Losman arm, but he's no Pennington either. He hit some deep throws last year in limited opportunities, and he hit a perfect 41 yarder today that nobody will see on the highlight shows because it happened before the FG fake. The TD to Royal was a pretty good dart as well. I don't know how you can reasonably say that his stats were deceptive either. He had basically zero garbage yardage/stats and frankly nobody cared about how good the Bills Special Teams were when their QB was squandering it by not throwing a game clinching TD on the first play after a turnover. I'd give him a C+, maybe B- accounting for the 1st half weather & lack of turnovers.

not sure anyone is expecting him to be a great passer just yet. he's still young and inexperienced. he did a great job of managing the game today, avoided any big mistakes, and made some very nice plays when the opportunity was there. with a strong defense and special teams, that's pretty much all the team wants him to do.

I guess so. I hope he grows into a good passer during the season, because right now I feel like this team is a solid QB away from being something special. Hedging everything on a second year game manager when they could've picked up a solid veteran is a questionable move.

Awful sums it up good. His effort was terrible, quitting on route after route. For someone with the opportunity he has, he showed nothing to me. Hasselback is in big time trouble if Burleson's out. Even with Burleson, I didn't see a WR on Seattle that's a suitable 2nd guy. [Kent didn't look any better -- like the raw WR prospect he is]
