Game Thread W14 - Minnesota V Detroit (1 Viewer)

Championship defenses step up and make a play when their backs are against the wall and that is exactly what the Lions D did just now.

How the hell do the officials miss that facemask? That might have cost me my fantasy game. Having Harvin and Gerhart going against the Lions. Argh. Worst officiating ever this year.

Jumping offsides when a team is trying to spike it and facemasking on the next play don't seem like championship caliber plays.
They knocked the ball out of the QBs hands and recovered the fumble just when they needed a big play.
Riiiiight..... :lmao:

Oh I'm sorry, did the ball not get knocked out of Webb's hands? Did the Lions not recover the fumble?

wow, that facemask was so blatant that i saw it live. i thought officials were supposed to watch for heads being jerked around like that?
The ball was already out so it really had no bearing on the play..although it did look like he might have accidently caught his finger in the facemask afterwards.

Vikings should only blame themselves for not handing it to Toby there. He is money short yardage. Being cute when the game is on the line is a losing strategy.

So close.. fitting end though. Might as well lose on the final to put an !!! On how bad a season it has been.

"Silver lining" .... Jags won so losing today is a win in the spring. ;)

mmmm, not so much. He grabbed and twisted webbs head. Typical dirty Lions play

Did they not facemask the guy? Did they not jump offsides and stop the clock for the Vikings for no apparent reason? Was Joe Webb not the Vikings' third string QB going in to the season? You're acting like they just made an amazing stand against a great team. They stopped the Vikings' third string QB after allowing the Vikings back into the game by playing terrible defense and barely snuck out of their own stadium with a win when they're playing for something and the Vikings have nothing left to play for. Yep, championship caliber defense making championship caliber plays guy. Let me know if the facemask goes uncalled when they do that to Rodgers or Brady and then let me know how that turns out for you.

They stood up like men and stopped the Vikings to win the game. That's what a championship caliber defense does. That's what the Lions did. That's why they won. The fact that the league has been biased towards Green Bay and the Patriots is meaningless. It's obvious that the league has made a concerted effort to make the Lions lose. They refs don't like Schwartz and they've been trying to make him pay. Didn't work this week and the Lions got their well fought W.

Joe Webb has not earned that call..this was a tough game for the Lions to get up for. Got out with a W though.

Really impressed with the Lions in the face of blantant hostility these last few weeks. They know they are playing not against 53 other players from the other team, but a league that wants to see their coach fail.

Which is why these officials decided not to call the obvious face masking on the final play? :wall:

I root for terrible coaches to fail too

Good job by the refs letting them play and not deciding the game with a penalty too.
Seems to be a lot of that going on lately. Titans receivers got molested in the endzone on the last play by the Saints and nary a flag. But hey, let's let them play in the final 2 minutes, even if that "playing" is against the rules. NFL basically allows you to cheat in the final minutes of the game and get away with it.

That seems to be a consistent theme among Detroit coaches and fans. Maybe if the organization spent less time worrying about who is out to get them, they could instead look in the mirror and correct some of the worst mental mistakes outside of Oakland.
