As a Giants fan, I'm happy for the win. The Cards definitely didn't finish the game. It should have been over long before the Cruz play.
As far as the Cruz play goes, I feel he definitely did give himself up. Otherwise, why would he leave the ball on the ground and turn around to run to the huddle? He was trying to get back to the huddle quickly. That said, it's a horrible rule, as I understand it. No way the refs should even be in a position to have to make that kind of a call. How do you decide when a player has given himself up? They should just make it where you can only give yourself up by sliding feet first. Make it simple.
I also have to say that Beanie Wells opened my eyes a little bit today. He ran with purpose and a chip on his shoulder. The Giants have a good run D and Beanie looked like the big kid playing against the little kids on the field. On his one TD he almost killed Corey Webster. The biggest mistake the Cards made was not just running him silly when they got the ball back with 3 minutes left. It should have been "run Beanie left" until the wheels come off. I'm 100% confident that if they had done that they would have walked away with the win. In fact, I was sure the game was over when they did get the ball back because I was sure that's what they were going to do, and there was no way the Giants were going to stop him, but for some reason they didn't. He made me a believer.
ETA: I should say too, Kolb did the opposite of what Beanie did for me. Kolb looked exceedingly average. He made a bunch of really bad decisions and he looked very rattled at certain points of the game. He didn't really display any poise at all. I'd be most concerned about Kolb more than anything else if I were a Cards fan.
