Game Thread W4 - NY Giants V Arizona (1 Viewer)

I always love it when fans of losing teams blame the refs.
Umm if the refs call it right the Cardinals win. What am I suppose to say? Aww shucks guys, what a great game...good job by the refs calling that play dead instead of a fumble. Hooo eeeeee we gave it a good effort but fell short.

This isn't the first close game the Cards lost this season. If they played good D on the drive before the Cruz play, they wouldn't have even been in the situation where a ref could have changed the outcome of the game. Refs deserve some of the blame, but so do the Cardinals.

Let's assume the refs called it a fumble.

Are the Cards only good enough to win on a boneheaded play by their opponent like that?

They should have sucked it up on that last NYG drive. Or drove the field for the game-winning TD when they had the chance.

Completely agree with this. Refs will always make bad calls (though maybe not to a game changing extent like this) and the Card D puckers up at the end of games. The offense is frustrating as hell too, this Cardinal team should really be 4-0 right now but here they stand at 1-3 and I blame the O far more than the D.3 Blown 2nd half leads in a row

As a Giants fan, I'm happy for the win. The Cards definitely didn't finish the game. It should have been over long before the Cruz play.

As far as the Cruz play goes, I feel he definitely did give himself up. Otherwise, why would he leave the ball on the ground and turn around to run to the huddle? He was trying to get back to the huddle quickly. That said, it's a horrible rule, as I understand it. No way the refs should even be in a position to have to make that kind of a call. How do you decide when a player has given himself up? They should just make it where you can only give yourself up by sliding feet first. Make it simple.

I also have to say that Beanie Wells opened my eyes a little bit today. He ran with purpose and a chip on his shoulder. The Giants have a good run D and Beanie looked like the big kid playing against the little kids on the field. On his one TD he almost killed Corey Webster. The biggest mistake the Cards made was not just running him silly when they got the ball back with 3 minutes left. It should have been "run Beanie left" until the wheels come off. I'm 100% confident that if they had done that they would have walked away with the win. In fact, I was sure the game was over when they did get the ball back because I was sure that's what they were going to do, and there was no way the Giants were going to stop him, but for some reason they didn't. He made me a believer.

ETA: I should say too, Kolb did the opposite of what Beanie did for me. Kolb looked exceedingly average. He made a bunch of really bad decisions and he looked very rattled at certain points of the game. He didn't really display any poise at all. I'd be most concerned about Kolb more than anything else if I were a Cards fan.

Cards are going to show the NFL if they are for real or not. Completely agree that they should be 4-0 right now. If they can bounce back from this, I wouldn't be surprised at a deep playoff run. With more time in the system, the defense should get better too. Have a lot of young guys like their LB Washington and Patrick Peterson with a nice mix of vets like Wilson and Dockett.

Did I say something funny, kiddo?

Tough loss. But really didn't expect much from the Cards this year. Expecting a 5-6 win season (and only that much due to a lackluster division)

Kolb's looked mediocre (which is expected as a 1st year starter in new system with limited offseason prep). Beanie looked fantastic as he has all year long. Defense looked lackluster as usual.

Hoping a full offseason does wonders for Kolb, but w/o a number of Fitz bailouts, would have horrendous numbers this year. Still see him as a transitional QB (vs. a legit franchise QB), but unfortunately what's done is done. Guy just reminds me a lot of Rex Grossman on the field.

Really wish the Cards would give Stephen Williams more PT. With a QB that loves to heave balls up for grabs, I'm sure Williams size would be a better asset than Doucet / Roberts. Doucet / Roberts are slot guys and that's where their futures lie.

Ah I get it, you don't watch the Cardinals. Cool.

Ah, the old "you must be new" or "must not watch the games" BS. I watched them lose to Seattle last week. I watched the last few minutes today and a decent chunk of weeks 1 and 2. When you say "should be 4-0", I guess there must be a lot of variables. They "should" have a better QB for what they paid, they "should" be able to count on their mega-stud WR at clutch times, they "should" not give up late TDs or fumble away the ball with the game on the line etc... So yeah, any team can go around saying we "should" be undefeated, but the players on the field aren't backing up your lofty and clearly unreasonable expectations, kiddo. But I understand, it can be tough beating All World QBs like Rex Grossman and Tarvaris Jackson. :lmao:

You should be 0-4 but got lucky playing a rookie QB week 1.

There was still lots of time left even if the fumble happened. Quit whining. Arizona had a chance and they blew it. Suck it up and play defense which they failed. Okay, suck it up and play offense and score. Which they failed. Too bad.
