General Strategy Discussion in H2H Leagues v. Rotisserie (1 Viewer)

I've played 5x5 Rotisserie for several years now, but this year I'm joining my first weekly head to head points league. I imagine that the specific scoring system probably affects a lot of the strategy in a H2H system, but if there are any general strategies that differ from those in rotisserie leagues, I'd love to hear it.

I'll post my league's scoring system just in case any poster believes it is necessary, but I'd be interested in any general discussion of tips or strategies specific to H2H leagues. Thanks a lot!

Hitters: 1B = 1 pt, 2B = 1.5 pt, 3B = 2 pt, HR = 2.5 pt, BB = 1 pt, R = 2 pt, RBI = 2 pt, SB = 1 pt, CS = -1, Error = -1.5

Pitchers: IP = 2 pt, W = 10 pt, L = -5 pt, Sv = 5 pt, K = 1 pt, ER = -3 pt, BS = -2 pt, Appearances = 2 pt

Biggest thing, which seems obvious but can't be understated, is know your scoring system. You don't need balance at all in points leagues... depending on how your league scores, you could win with a bunch of aces and terrible hitting, or with a bunch of great power hitters, no speed and bad pitching. Offhand it looks like your system favors hitters a bit, but I'd find somewhere where you can get your league's FP totals calculated for last year and be sure.

Also, does your league have any rules to limit pitching appearances? IP or game limits, weekly transactions, short bench? If not, you may want to draft a ton of SP and bludgeon your opponents to death by throwing more innings than they do. In roto, that's a good way to finish last in ERA and WHIP. In an H2H points league, it's a good way to score a lot of points.
