GIANTS JETS GAME THREAD (1 Viewer)

I get that they should be mixing in Wilson with the first team. I think it's dumb that they aren't. But DJ Ware is not going way. He has good size, good hands, a good work ethic, and most importantly, he can really protect the qb. He will get as many snaps, if not more than Wilson. If Bradshaw got hurt, he'd take at least 40% of the snaps, most likely closer to 65% of the snaps.

I know I know people are going to get sick of Tebow vs Sanchez.

However, I need to say that I would be surprised if Tebow is not starting for the Jets sooner than later.

Tebow looks more comfortable in the pocket than last year. They are not going into a straight read option offense with Tebow like Denver did far too often. They are letting him play from under center, from shot gun and will mix in wildcat for him.

We have to remember he is still a young QB in the NFL. Tebow can make more happen than Sanchez especially in this offense. This offense is not a big play offense. It is a grind out yards offense and hit the open guy in mid level throws. Tebow will be this type of player much better than Sanchez.

I absolutely hate these interviews while the game is going on. Absolutely stupid.

In other news Wilson is finally in. Nice run he just had.

Gang Green's two-headed passing monster was far from a thing of beauty on Saturday night.

Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow were put on display -- warts and all -- by the Jets in a 26-3 loss to the Giants at MetLife. Rex Ryan and his quarterbacks would like to have this one back.

Sanchez leads offense into the abyss

The Jets plan a return to the ground this season. As the team's starting quarterback, Sanchez is being asked to manage games and avoid turnovers.

None of this happened with any success against the Giants. Six drives for Sanchez led to zero points, just 59 passing yards and a savaging by Big Blue's defensive line.

Coach Ryan talked about "self-inflicted wounds" at halftime, possibly a code word for left tackle Wayne Hunter, who gave up four sacks on the night. Giants linemen Jason Pierre-Paul, Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck all got to Sanchez during a string of silent, fruitless marches for the Jets.

This offensive line is a concern, unable to protect the quarterback or hold its ground in short-yardage situations.

The Jets plodded into Giants territory late in the half, but the drive was cut short when Sanchez floated a pass to rookie defensive back Jayron Hosley, who returned it 77 yards for a touchdown and the 13-0 lead. Night over.

Tebow fails to pull them out

Tebow started the second half and delivered New York's first scoring drive on a 14-play, 68-yard march that chewed nearly nine minutes off the clock.

We saw good and bad. Tebow connected with rookie wideout Stephen Hill on his first pass of the night, but the pair later combined for a messy gaffe in Giants territory. On second and long, Tebow had Hill wide open in the end zone. With nobody in the zip code, he floated a pass that fluttered short, forcing Hill to leap forward for it. No dice. That's not a throw you see NFL quarterback's miss.

On the following series, Tebow sailed a pass into the flats that -- like a happy kite -- left the field and nearly pegged Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, huddled off to the side in a TV interview.

Tebow finished 5-for-14 passing for 69 yards. Incidentally, Antonio Cromartie failed to take an offensive snap and the game passed without a Wildcat sighting, but it's hard to imagine how those gimmicks alone will transform this offense come autumn. The breathless Tebow-Sanchez commentary that dogged us all spring and summer (and we're guilty of it) has brought us to this.

Maybe the Jets transform magically into an offensive terror when the calendar flips to September. On a night like tonight, something darker feels more sure.

Its preseason so I'll reserve final judgment but that pick 6 from Sanchez is just proof that he has not progressed as expected. So if he falls on his face Jet fans can expect a wave of Tebow Time.....then what? 40+ years without a franchise QB - you would have thought they would have stumbled into one by now! GB has had 2 in the last 20 yrs for crying out loud! Pretty depressed right now...

Once again, it's Wayne Hunter vs. the world.

The New York Jets right tackle did nothing to silence his detractors in a disturbing performance Saturday night against the New York Giants.

Mark Sanchez paid the price as Hunter allowed no less than four quarterback sacks in the first half. One of them was wiped out by penalty, but the sight of Giants defensive linemen swinging past Hunter at will was burned into the mind of Jets fans.

Hunter understands that.

"Either you perform or you don't perform. If I don't, they're going to find someone to bring in and compete and get the job done," he told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Hunter has dealt with back problems in the past, but he said that wasn't bothering him against the Giants. "I need to get something figured out before the first game, though," he said.

Hunter has endured his share of slings and arrows this offseason. After the Jets issued a vote of confidence in the veteran, they pulled the trigger on a trade for former Carolina Panthers offensive tackle Jeff Otah. The deal fell through, leaving Hunter in the starting role.

Hunter is part of a New York line that no longer pushes back opponents with ease. Protecting the quarterback appears beyond this group's skill set. Hunter isn't the only problem here, but for now, he's the scapegoat. A good chunk of the blame is on target.

Some News and Notes...

-Anyone that said Cruz was a one hit wonder or not truly elite should watch the tape of this game. He is being moved around everywhere and he is definitely one of the better WR's in the league right now. His numbers last year although he will struggle to repeat them did not happen by accident, he is legit.

-The Giants are awful at run blocking! Don't matter who they have running behind that line it is just inconsistent.

-Randel made a great catch, and I think you will see him in the second half of this season really make a push for playing time behind Nicks and Cruz.

-The Jets offense was not good. I know they were missing some players, but it is going to be a long season on offense. That O line is god awful and Sanchez is no good and Tebow still needs time playing with the NFL speed to be consistent. I think Tebow will end up giving them the best chance to win, but I don't know if it will be enough.

-The Jets defence is really good. Landry was a nice addition if he can stay healthy.

-The Giants defence game in and game out is as scary as anyone in the NFL. That D line is nasty and they feed off of each other. I am usually not one to give predictions, but I think the Giants win the NFC east easily this year.

Chad Pennington was on his way to being one until the numerous injuries.
