I am looking to add a starting pitcher. There are quite a few who have put up nice numbers in recent weeks or are about to get their shot. Here are some of the names ...give me your thoughts on any of them for the long term:

J. Guthrie - BAL

B. Banister - KC

A. Wainwright - StL

S. Marcum - TOR

Y. Gallardo - MIL

A. Reyes - StL

L. DiNardo - OAK

H. Kuo - LA

Can't comment too much on some of them.

Bannister was strong early with the Mets, then got hurt. He's with the Royals. Do you really want one of their pitchers?

Wainwright looked like he was going to be a stud. Might be turning things around.

Gallardo is pretty young. He has the most talent on this list, but ... he's pretty young.

Reyes is snakebitten. He can pitch a no-hitter and lose 1-0. Everyone on rotojunkie seems to be in love with him.

DiNardo just got shellacked by the Cardinals.

Kuo is pretty interesting. Read good things about him earlier this season. he got hit pretty good by the Pirates in his first start, but has been better his last two.

Of the ones I can rank:

1. Gallardo

2/3-Reyes, Wainwright

4. Kuo

5. Look somewhere else.

J. Guthrie - BAL - his newfound success could be exhibit 1,123 of Mazzone Magic but I'm betting against it

B. Banister - KC - his dad was the top overall draft pick in the 1976 draft....but Brian is a 4th starter at best

A. Wainwright - StL - good pitcher, terrible support

S. Marcum - TOR - Chalk one up to the Jays scouting staff for nailing this one.

Y. Gallardo - MIL - in his last 223 minor league innings, he has 298 strikeouts and only 157 hits allowed

A. Reyes - StL - better pitcher than Wainwright IMO

L. DiNardo - OAK - extreme soft-tosser who went to $tet$on University (Stuck Fetson!)

H. Kuo - LA - probably the 2nd best stuff on this list but the worst control of anyone on this list
