GM Daniel Naroditsky (1 Viewer)

29 year old Grand Master died of a 'heart attack' (suspected overdose) last week after being repeatedly accused of cheating for the last 12 months by former WC Vladimir Kramnik. Kramnik, who was a childhood idol of Naroditsky is notorious for making accusations with no corroborating evidence. Naroditsky, whose parents immigrated from the USSR, spoke fluent Russian and was constantly targeted on social media by Russian bots/trolls. IMO he was one of the best commentators and content creators in the chess world and will be missed by all. There has been a push from many in the chess community to have Kramnik banned from all playing platforms.

He was really good. Amazing how quickly these guys analyze positions in realtime.

Yeah, this is the game that instigated the whole thing. Pretty crazy that he found this and calculated the follow up.

One of the comments sums it up beautifully: How unbelievable that a GM found the best move on the board.

These guys just don't like to lose. Magnus' accusation of Nieman was the same BS.

The chess tournaments on here got me really into chess during Covid. While I eventually turned more to Feingold because he teaches more theory, Naroditsky's initial instructional video remained the most impactful chess video I have ever seen and instantly made be a better player. His initial instruction to ensure that a piece you move will be protected was probably the most important piece of chess advice I have received.

Rare when somebody so good at something can be equally as good at teaching that same something.

So tragic.
