Going to Memphis, where to stay (1 Viewer)

Me and three buddies going to Memphis, looking to stay close to Beale street. Like, walking (stumbling) distance to where we will be hanging out and drinking in the evenings.

I was looking into some hotels. Ideally we would like to be able to either have one really nice suite to comfortably sleep all 4 of us (ideally not in the same beds), or even in a house or something that is still a short walk to Beale street.

Any ideas or suggestions? Budget limit of about $1,200 total for 3 nights(not each person).

Damn - in Memphis? You could probably stay at Graceland and have sex with Lisa Marie for that kind of money.

I really like the Westin in Memphis. It's across the street from the Gibson guitar factory, and if any of you guys play, you can even borrow some pretty sweet Gibson custom shop guitars from the front desk to rock out in the hotel room.

That's my Beale street recommendation. There's also the big one where the pigeons or ducks or whatever take the elevator and walk through the lobby. I've never stayed. Further out there's a pretty great place called River Inn, and you can wake up and look at Arkansas, but I don't think it's a fit for a guy party trip. They have nice rooms and a killer free breakfast, and there's a little bar on site called Tugs. But it's not downtown.

YWIA

Westin (half block from Beale)

Peabody (~2 blocks from Beale)

Madison (several blocks from Beale)

[end of list]

Oh, and Beale street sucks ###. Nobody from Memphis goes there really. So many awesome spots downtown that are better than Beale spots.

While downtown hit:

Flying saucer

Paula raifords disco (late night...trust me)

Bardog

Local Gastropub

Gus' world famous fried chicken (lunch)

Automatic slims (brunch)

Brass door

I used to like the Madison much more than the Peabody - much nicer rooms, better restaurant, nice bar, etc.

The main disadvantage was walking those extra blocks to the Flying Saucer, Slims, the Rendezvous BBQ, Beale, and things like that.

Yep Peabody rooms are pretty overrated... Madison is very nice. However I knocked it down a peg for distance from the main touristy entertainment parts of the city.

I always had good luck with rooms at the Peabody but many people I've known complained that theirs were too small.

VRBO typically has options in the south bluffs area (5-10 blocks from Beale).

If you're looking off a house a block from Beale street, no... Nothing like that exists

To my knowledge you're not going to find any 4 bed hotel suites in downtown Memphis. Get two rooms adjacent with 2 beds each. This isn't Las Vegas (which has a relatively limited number of 4 bed suites as well).

Doesnt have to be 4 beds. A couch and a rollaway would be fine if the room suits it
