Going to the Poconos this weekend (1 Viewer)

SUPER ELITE UPPER TIER
It's a family trip. Extended family. My cousin and her husband have a place up there and they've invited us all up. I guess the plan is to go to Camel Back. I went on the site and it's kind of a jumbled mess. But it looks like they have some cool stuff. Just wondering if anyone has ever been up there and has any advice on what to do and what not to do, since it all seems to be "pay as you go" type entertainment.

TIA

Up the mountains / down the shore
When I lived in Texas, I would say "going on up" and my northern friends would make fun of me. I'm not sure where I picked it up, but I've trained myself to remove the "on up" part whenever I talk now.

first cousin... or 2/3rd?

hot?

friday thread next week?
First cousin. And there won't be a thread.
P.S. bring a good pair of walking shoes, the foliage is beautiful right now.
Yeah. That's why were going. There was mention about possibly going to Jim Thorpe and getting bikes to ride down a mountain or something. That sounded kind of interesting.

Heading up tomorrow at noon. Coming back tomorrow afternoon so we can catch the Eagles game.

Wait til January and ski.
I think we'll head up there this year, but we're going now to see the leaves. But they also have all that zip lining and mountain coaster stuff. Was just wondering if any of it was worth the money.
Why not? Haven't been there in a while, but sounds like a good outdoor time to me. They've done a lot to make it a year round de$tination.

That's my question. I've never been. Didn't know what to expect. It looks pretty cool. Just didn't know if it actually was.

Jim Thorpe is the "Fall" thing to do. Cool to walk around the town. Bunch of different shops and stuff. Nestled in the mountains so lots of foliage and a vintage train stop.

Other than that, fat lotta nothing. Maybe some golf if its nice enough at Jack Frost and Split Rock. I'd say Pleasuredome and paintball but you said family, so that's a no.

I heard recently that there are a few bad areas up there now. Drugs and resulting violence. True/false?

Been an influx of New Yorkers for about a decade now. Cheap housing compared to NYC and only about 2 hours away. Not saying this is the reason. Just saying coincidentally.

It was actually a pretty fun trip. Their place was in a nice private community. Beautiful views. We just did some hiking on Saturday. Sunday we went to Camelback and that was pretty cool. It was really windy, so the big zip line was closed. But we did the small one and the mountain coaster. Pretty fun time for the family.

One thing about the mountains, it's definitely still a Appalachia feel. As we drove around the back roads, there were times I thought to myself, "This area would probably be a lot safer if my skin was a little lighter." :oldunsure:
