Gore did NOT have a concussion - will start Sunday (1 Viewer)

Frank Gore recanted his concussion statement and said he feels fine and will be ready for Sunday's game against the Rams.Gore stated that he was woozy from his neck getting jammed on a hit, not from a concussion. He implied that he was still a bit dazed when he stumbled near the goal-line late in the game, and that's why he didn't make it into the end zone. Gore was not given a diagnostic test, but he's been told that he wasn't concussed. He expects to practice Friday and will be in the starting lineup Sunday. Source: San Francisco Chronicle
Gore was brought to the pressroom at the team's Santa Clara facility by members of the team's public relations department to corroborate coach Mike Singletary's assertion that the running back does not have a concussion.
Something fishy going on here...

Translation: Gore was told by Mike Singletary he doesn't have a concussion.
:banned: I saw Gore after the play and he looked dizzy, I hope it was not a concussion but after seeing the way Gore was helped off of the field I can't help but think he has a concussion.

How does one know if he/she has a concussion?
I'm no doctor but from talking to 2 people who have had them they both told me some of their symptons were being very dizzy, loss of short term memory and vomiting. Can someone please explain to me how you vomit form being concussed?

I don't know the reason but vomiting's a symptom.

maybe it's vertigo related --- anyway, it's your brain, brain controls everything.

I'm not certain, but I believe it has something to do with increased release of excitatory neurotransmitters that stimulate the pons in the brain stem/reticular formation, which is the area often associated with vomiting.

I think next gore should issue a statement saying he doesn't even remember claiming to have a concussion.

then vomit.

I need a new player. CB Reticular Formation might hold some promise.

Frank Gore (neck) is listed as probable for Week 11 against St. Louis. He had a full practice on Friday and coach Mike Singletary noted that Gore moved well in the workout.

The 49ers and Rams don't play until 4:05ET on Sunday, but Gore is well worth the wait. He's healthy and is fully expected to be in the starting lineup.

Any confirmation that Gore, in fact, practiced today?

Isn't it crazy? We lived out our entire lives... I went one way... you went another. We each enjoyed different life experiences. Yet... at the same exact moment.... we were copy pasting the same exact news, from the same exact source, and posting it on the same exact thread.I love you.

 You got xkcd'd.

Hmm...I'm losing my mind. I could have swore I saw on the ESPN crawler that Gore was listed under the "Not Expected to Play" category. And my heart skipped a beat.

Hopefully I misread.

SF

Arnaz Battle WR Foot Out (Definitely Will Not Play) Out

Dashon Goldson S Knee Out (Definitely Will Not Play) Out

Josh Morgan WR Groin Out (Definitely Will Not Play) Out

Delanie Walker TE Shoulder Did Not Participate In Practice Doubtful

Barry Sims T Ankle Limited Participation in Practice Doubtful

Mark Roman S Groin Limited Participation in Practice Questionable

Frank Gore RB Neck Full Participation in Practice Probable
I saw the crawler bit again, "Not Expected to Play - Frank Gore".So I checked the NFL.com injury report, and that's what's listed. I'm assuming that's Friday practices. Maybe ESPN just listed him in the wrong group.

I saw it too, Mort probably gave them bogus info.

This sort of thing has to be annoying to a player. The dude gets rocked and has a concussion, then says it. Next thing you know, he is told by his coach that he is wrong. Screw you, Singletary! Remember a few weeks back when Kellen had to sit back and have the public think he had huge nads, just so the Browns could keep their staph infections a secret? He finally comes clean, and what do the Browns do to him?

:D Winslow had a right to be pissed, but he went about it the wrong way. Gore got dinged and was dizzy. I read a report somewhere that he was nauseous too. Sounds like a concussion to me. You would think that the NFL would investigate being that they are so concerned with the concussion issue.

So was the ESPN scroll wrong or are they still showing Gore as "not expected to play"?Given I haven't seen anything further here I'm guessing he's playing and they screwed up. True?Nice to see when the 300 pound gorilla screws up.

I'm a bit worried that Gore was accompanied by a PR-type person to recant his earlier claim of a concussion... Sounds like he's being pressured into playing; makes me a bit leery of starting him; I know that may sound ridiculously stupid.

He's still listed as "Full Participation in Practice - Probable" on NFL.com's injury report. I'm thinking ESPN put him under the NOT expected to play category instead of EXPECTED to play by accident.

You're not crazy or stupid. It seems really odd, the whole thing.

I'm sitting him for Deuce. This whole situation just smells. I watched him get dinged on Monday. He said he had bad headaches and nausea for a couple days afterwards. The coach says, "Nope, nothing to worry about". Uhhhhh........ This just reaks.I hate benching Gore. He's been a stud this year. And maybe he has his typical good game against a bad Rams team. But I can just as easily see him getting a series, getting re-dinged, and putting up a bagel.
