I know Martz came to town and LJ needs a new line but these guys are so close in terms of ability/production who is the safer bet to rebuild and rebound and be the better player?
I personally like Gore better. His team is younger, and improving, where the Chiefs have gotten older, and looked horrible this year. Granted, both teams QBs suck, which doesn't help the running game, but I still like A.Smith and a Martz offense more than a Herm Edwards offense.

Fixed.People fell in love with Gore because he was a mid round steal in 2006 but he really isn't that good...he's a cupcake. Johnson won't finish many seasons because of his running style and will break the hearts of many FF owners.

If this discussion was about what player other than Gore or LJ you like long term you would be right on target(I guess).....alas this thread is about comparing LJ and Gore so you really did not fix anything..........you seem to be new at this so give it time....... maybe lurk for a while before you post again..........Just sayin. HTH

I'd rather take a chance on Gore than take LJ knowing that he's on a Herm Edwards run offense with almost zero surrounding talent. LJ's going to be run into the ground before the end of the decade. At least Gore's new system is going to be revolved around him, or at least that's what Martz is saying. We'll see. Gore having him by 4 years helps immensely too.

I don't see much of a difference between the two. Both are on lousy teams, with lousy lines, lousy QB's, good/very TE's, and ok wr's. Both will be the focal points of their offense and if they are both healthy I'd expect them to finish within a spot or two of one another. It remains to be seen that Martz will be good for Gore since that hasn't been history outside of Faulk. It certainly wasn't the case in Detroit which was probably a big reason why he's in SF.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but Gore is easily one of the most talented RB's in the league. Now, you may not think he's elite in terms of talent, but to say he really isn't that good is just off. Even if you don't trust what you see on the field, where to me it's obvious how good the guy really is, just go read a bit about him. Out of all the productive RB's that came from UM (McGahee, Portis, Edge, and Gore), it's been stated quite often that Gore was the most talented of that group. As to the question, I think talent levels between these 2 are the same (both are top-notch), but Gore is younger and I like his situation a little bit better so I would take Gore.
