Gore was injured in the last game and despite "vowing" to play -- he did not practice yesterday and there has been no scuttlebutt at all. Why is everyone so sure this is not serious enough to keep him out?

The FBG Players In The News simply stated that Gore did not participate in practice. Nothing more. Perhaps there IS nothing more, but if there is a place to find out, its here in the pool.

Gore owner here who has LJ on bye and needs to know what is up so I can plan accordingly.

I don't know if he will practice today or not, but this is from yesterday.Oct 24 2007 06:23PMMatt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (ankle) missed the team's practice Wednesday, Oct. 24, but the team has him listed as probable for the Week 8 game.It sounds like he should be good to go.I hope so, as I have James on bye this week.I'll keep an eye on this.

Well, he came back in and finished that game, so it wouldn't make sense fo him to have a week to recover, and then be unable to play.

Yes and no. Sometimes players use the adrenaline (and maybe painkillers) to get through injuries that can worsen. I will officially be concerned if he is held out again today.

Thanks.

Wouldn't it make sense that he's resting his leg? Most studs these days don't practice if there's the least little thing wrong. He's tough, MRI's negative, and he says he'll play. I'd say there's an 80-90% chance he plays, 50% chance he has a good day. Just my opinion, of course.

Not super encouraging news, but not bad either:

Running back Frank Gore also expects to play Sunday despite a sprained ankle. Gore was limited in practice for the second straight day, mostly confining his workouts to individual drills.

"It was all right, and it'll get better day by day," said Gore, who has just 394 yards rushing after leading the NFC last year. "We'll just wrap it up, and I'll try to go out there and play on it. ..."

News on Gore gets worse. :( :(

Frank Gore was originally going to be listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Saints, but as head coach Mike Nolan spoke to the media he said Gore would be downgraded to questionable.

Still, Santa Rosa Press-Democrat staffer Matt Maiocco reports the coach expects Gore to play.

"I think he'll be ready," Nolan said.

Gore also said he is confident he'll play with a right ankle sprain he sustained in the second quarter last week against the Giants.

"I'll be good," he said.

No word yet as to whether or not he practiced today. I'll keep an eye out.

Seems like the news on Gore gets worse everyday.

No sources to quote here, but...

Gore will play Sunday. Furthermore, I think he's finally going to have a breakout game. I'm calling 130 total yards and one TD. Not helpful for people deciding if they should play Gore, but I believe he delivers Sunday.

Don't worry about the downgrade to questionable. Under league rules, if Player's miss practice, they have to be listed as questionable.

Just heard this on local SF radio sportstalk KNBR 680..... talking to Matt Mayoko, beatwriter for San Jose Press Democrat (newspaper)

"Q: How's Gore looking.

A: He's iffy. He didn't practice much this week, the ankle still bothers him. He'll play and do whatever it takes. By whatever it takes I mean taking a needle. But he'll play."

There is no link obviously. I just heard this at 5:20 Friday afternoon.

I concur..he should shred that N.O. defense, with ease. i'm banking on at least 100 yards rushing and a score..

Methinks you aren't too hip as to what the Saints' run D has accomplished over the last five games.

hold the phone. who have they played?Tampa Bay Tennessee Carolina SeattleAtlanta Caddillac, Chris Brown, DeShaun Foster, SA, Dunn. These may sound like great names, but absolutely nobody is scared of these guys. NO has not seen a back as good as Gore all year, not even close. Considering he ripped off 90 rushing yards against a very good and developing Giants D, I think it is compleetely reasonable to say he has the ability to shred New Orleans. Especially with Smith and Davis back to open up the passing game, a little.

Currently on Gore's CBS Sportsline Player News:

According to the San Jose Mercury News, the 49ers will make a final decision on whether to play RB Frank Gore (ankle) Week 8 against the Saints come Sunday morning. Gore, who is listed as probable on the injury report, went through limited practice reps for the second straight session Friday. He hasn't practiced much since injuring his right ankle Week 7 against the Giants. Head coach Mike Nolan hopes the limited work during the week will increase Gore's chances of facing the Saints. "We're just trying to take it easy with him by keeping it light during the week," Nolan said. "We'll see how it is on Sunday." (Updated 10/27/2007).FANTASY ANALYSISGore said he will continue to ice down his ankle and test it during pregame on Sunday. Gore, who has just 394 yards rushing after leading the NFC last year, said he expects to play Sunday. "I did all right (Friday)," Gore said. "I felt good." If active, consider Gore a solid Fantasy option for Week 8 against the Saints. New Orleans is allowing 100.7 rushing yards per game, which ranks 12th in the league.
I'm thinking he'll at least give it a go.If he doesn't, do you guys see Hicks or Robinson getting more of the work?

Its really hard to say. I'm pretty sure robinson would get the goaline carries but besides that, its up in the air..

I think this has more to do with teams NOT running on them because the NO passing D is pretty bad and teams are finding it easy to slice and dice them through the air. IMO I would look for passing from the Niners early and running Gore often late in the game.

(KFFL) Matt Maiocco, of The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Oct. 26, and is listed as questionable for Week 8. Gore and head coach Mike Nolan both said he is expected to play in the game.

So who do you pick up for a handcuff, Robinson or Hicks? They have the same number of carries. Robinson has more yards, but Hicks has more receptions.

I think Gore plays and plays well at that. While he was limited in practice on Friday, he is their (only) star player, they need him, he knows the offense, and he plays RB which is the most instinctual position on the field that requires the least amount of film study and etc.

Add that to the fact that both him and his coach are quoted as expecting him to play and was there really a reason for them to push him through the entire grueling practice on Friday?

Per TSN:

Oct. 26, 2007 - 3:59 p.m.

According to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Gore (ankle) was downgraded to questionable on Friday's injury report. Coach Mike Nolan said he expects Gore to play. Gore said he'll be ready to go Sunday against the Saints.

Fantasy Source spin: It looks like Gore will play, but this is still troubling news. Have Gore in your lineups, but temper your expectatio

Hmm, not even enough to get a Gore thread pinned at the top...

This is definitely uner the radar a bit.
:goodposting: There should indeed be a pinned Gore thread.

Looks like Andy is asleep at the wheel.

EDIT: As I typed the above, he woke up

I had the choice of both and I picked up Robinson. I know Hicks is higher on the depth chart but I like Robinson's size. I'm hoping he gets the GL carries. In a PPR league I MIGHT have went with Hicks though.

Was hoping there would be more info on Gore this morning (they indicated they may announce something this morning) but since it's a late game.. ugh.

He is not on the inactive list, which is good. It looks like he will be starting.
