Got a question for the IDP Roundtable tonight? (1 Viewer)

We'll still hit the major injury and news of the week, but we're opening up the show for questions tonight. Keep the questions as general as possible (we won't be doing specific team advice questions due to time issues) and we'll see if we can sort out the most vexing issues in the IDP world this week?

With the top return guys at DB being injured or just not doing returns anymore( Manning, Wilson, Mckelvin )is there anyone out there that jumps out at you as a guy that could be a stud returner while starting at DB this year?

is Tyvon Branch posting big stats only because the scheme ?

i mean, do you think he'll be the long term solution as Raiders SS ?

What's going on with the Seattle LBs? Will Hawthorne keep starting and how long, even when Lofa comes back?

Same with other injuries like with James Butler in STL. Who fills in for him and is he a good start?

So many injuries...

To follow that up will Lofa ever get back to his old form?

My LBs, Lofton, Durant, Tulloch, Rivers, Paul P.....I like to have 3 solid LBs and just keep some fillers.

Of those 5, who should I never let go, and, who should I look to move for upgrades?

2/tackle

1/assist

3/sack

5/INT

If you were looking for a LB, who would attract you the most?

I find myself in a rather favourable position with the depth I have at both DB and LB and I need to strengthen my offensive skill positions. Bloom has often mentioned the "trading defense for offense" strategy. How much do you think a LB2 is worth, for example?

My real question is how can you quantify and compare the value of IDPs against offensive players?

With this LB corps: Lofton, Brackett, Foote, Geno Hayes, Maualuga, Session

And this DB corps: Branch, Horton, Piscatelli, Weddle, Bryan Scott

Do you think I should make a move to strengthen my lineup on offense?

Scoring system: 1.5 pt per solo, 0.75 per assist, 1.75 pt per sack, 0.5 pt per pass defensed

Thanks fellas! I look forward to listening to the IDP Roundtable each and every week. Keep up the fine work.

What is Ricky Brown's Dynasty value? Do you feel that Kirk Morrison, who seems to have fallen a bit out of favor with the Raiders, will be moved to the strong side or even let go after this season and that the reputedly more physical (and cheaper) Brown will be the favorite to supplant him as the starting MLB in 2010? What is the likelihood of Morrison re-signing? I have Brown in two leagues, and I'm wondering whether he's worth stashing. Thank you.

While it is only week 3 what is up with the Pittsburgh IDPs? Specifically, James Harrison is it time to move him for a younger LB with promise say Durant or similar ilk?

Brandon Meriweather seems oddly and unexpetedly high on some people's DB rankings. Where do you see his value and would you justify a high ranking for him?

Also, I would love to hear your take on Richard Marshall. So far his production has been adequate but not the studly type of numbers we expected. Is there anything you see in the scheme or in his new role that would suggest a downward adjustment in expectations?

Two questions:

First, what is going on with Adrian Wilson.

Second, I know it seems like it is covered every week, but what's the latest on the Chicago backfield.

Thanks, love the podcast.

The number of sacks has gone down big time this season compared to the last 2, through 3 weeks. Is there a reason(s) for this and do you think will it continue?

Sacks

///////wk01/wk02/wk03

2007--68-/-76-/-68= 212 sacks through 3 weeks

2008--66-/-73-/-71= 210 sacks through 3 weeks

2009--68-/-53-/-50= 171 sacks through 3 weeks

I've seen this asked about 100 times. The answer is no one knows and nfl talent doesn't equal fantasy points.

Tampa Bay Safeties

Who is strong and who is weak?

Last week it appears Will Allen played the opportunity-rich strong safety position (in place of Jermaine Phillips), not Piscatelli as we expected, and Allen had an excellent score as one would expect for that position.

What should we expect going forward, keeping in mind that Tarnard Jackson returns next week? TJ at free, Sabby at strong or will Allen fit in the mix? I assume Allen will stay at SS this week with Sabby at FS.

Please note that in doing my own due dilligence I came accross comments that indicated the coaching staff may not be totally enamored with Sabby Piscitelli right now, so my question may not be as simple as it appears, i.e. Jackson and Piscatelli start at FS and SS.

Thanks guys!

Two more questions:

Your thoughts on newly emergent LBs? Specifically TImmons, Burnett, Jordan and Tulloch. How do they fit into the picture, both now, the rest of the season and for dynasty purposes? And please feel free to add others that you feel belong in this discussion. I realise that Jordan and Tulloch have past histories, but as far as I'm concerned they are still newly emergent.

Second, If Hawthorne can do it why can't Tatupu? Seriously, Lofa has not had a box score like Hawthornes last week in years, if not ever, maybe he has lost it. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Is DJ Williams not a fit for the 3-4? At the moment, Andra Davis is even with him in production

Hi guys,

Couple questions....

- With the drought of top tier DE options is there anyone in college right now that looks like they can come in and be a top tier option early?

- The Redskins situation looks like it could be in flux very soon if/when Zorn is fired. Of course no one knows what scheme or coach will be there, but there are a few rookies and young players to build around. What players other than Haynesworth are worth snagging now and waiting for a bigger role to emerge in 2010?

Unfortunately, without a injury, there's no dual starting DB/returner on the horizon.

He's just never flourished as a tackler, and with Patrick Chung on the horizon next year, I wouldn't have a very high long term expectation for him.

Also, I would love to hear your take on Richard Marshall. So far his production has been adequate but not the studly type of numbers we expected. Is there anything you see in the scheme or in his new role that would suggest a downward adjustment in expectations?

Slot corners in the nickel often put together big tackle numbers, though not as consistently as Marshall in most cases. Marshall isn't in the slot, but those snaps should be outweighed by his starters' snaps. The Eagles didn't complete many passes to wide receivers. The Falcons did, but I'm willing to call W2 an aberration for now and focus on W3. I think he's still got a 70 solo expectation.

Interesting. I'd be curious what 2006 and 2005 were like and how the total pass attempts from the 2007-2009 sample size compare with each other. Some of the 4-3 ends have struggled, as have a few of the 3-4 stud rush backers. Guys like Odom and Dumervil have picked up some of that slack, though, and I don't think the OL/QB combinations are much better than they were last year.

if they're playing tampa 2 wouldn't that bump him up over the typical starting corner?how many snaps do you think they're in cover 2?

It would, but there's only so much additional upside for a guy who's already had 75 solo tackle seasons. 80 solos is about as many as I'm willing to project for even those I'm really high on.The Tampa-2 percentage is going to be situation dependent. I didn't see as much last week, probably due to the Witten factor and I'm sure Meeks reviewed the DAL/WAS game from two years ago to see what happens when you give Romo a couple of reasonably fast WR and a TE to flood one side of the field against a suspect cover safety. I'd guess there'll be Tampa-2 on somewhere around half the plays.

2005--71-/-76-/-60= 207 sacks through 3 weeks (2 fewer games. 4 teams had week 3 BYE)2006--81-/-88-/-57= 226 sacks through 3 weeks (2 fewer games. 4 teams had week 3 BYE)
