Government will take your kids if you do not helicopter them (1 Viewer)

In Silver Spring, leaving anyone under age 18 unsupervised constitutes neglect.
And leaving anyone under 18 unsupervised constitutes neglect? This Silver Springs place sounds nuts.
That's seriously crazy. Who the hell doesn't leave teenagers unsupervised from time to time when you want to take your wife out to dinner or something?
I find it hard to believe that's the rule. Silver Spring isn't an independent city or anything so I can't image they have their own neglect rules separate from Montgomery County. Could it really be a county-wide law? Montgomery County is 1 million people. No chance there aren't thousands and thousands of parents breaking this rule, if true.
In Montgomery, CPS officials have said they are guided in part by a state law that says children younger than 8 must be left with a reliable person who is at least 13. But the law refers only to enclosed spaces such as buildings or cars, and makes no mention of children outside, in a park or on a walk.

8 makes much more sense than 18.
