Buried the lede there. Great stuff all around, but the lead singer is the clear highlight of the video.Very talented musician plays all of the instruments and brings in a couple of singers.

I agree the singer is great but I think you're under selling the musician's talent. He plays every instrument (even the clapping) almost flawlessly. His cover is much better than Phish's cover IMO.Buried the lede there. Great stuff all around, but the lead singer is clear the highlight of the video.
Here's another solid Boston cover band. I know the bass player. But the lead singer...Buried the lede there. Great stuff all around, but the lead singer is the clear highlight of the video.
I saw that a few days ago and I don't know whether to be saddened or inspired. The camera man (presumably his dad) asks on behalf of his fans what he's been up to since the Foreplay cover. He says he's been playing live, is about to release an album and has done 5-6 other covers. They posted the Foreplay cover 9 years ago.
Sorry, didn't intend to undersell his talent. I acknowledged that he is great. And it is certainly notable that he is great at multiple instruments. It's just that I think the singer is exceptional. And in my book, singularly exceptional beats out broadly great. Glad you shared the vid - thanks.I agree the singer is great but I think you're under selling the musician's talent. The trick is finding a draw other than recording YouTube vids of his one-man covers (which, of course, could be wildly successful in and of itself). It's not like he can perform live as a one-man band. And releasing an album where you play every instrument may be an interesting factoid, but it doesn't necessarily make the songwriting good or the sound recording any better than a band of multiple talented musicians.I saw that a few days ago and I don't know whether to be saddened or inspired. He was already attracting attention at 9.
Agreed. Nailng the golden pipes of Brad DelpSorry, didn't intend to undersell his talent. I acknowledged that he is great. And it is certainly notable that he is great at multiple instruments. Given the apparent support he has from his folks, I'm surprised he hasn't as well. The trick is finding a draw other than recording YouTube vids of his one-man covers (which, of course, could be wildly successful in and of itself). But yeah, he should have been churning out as many YouTube vids as possible and monetizing it as much as he can.
I was thinking Aspergers. He seems fairly odd in the vid where he's covering the Yes song.Given the apparent support he has from his folks, I'm surprised he hasn't as well.
Anyone else think that there's a little something special about him? Outside of his being an obvious musical savant...?
Not so bad around the 1:21 mark. And I also think Katie Scheper looks much better in this rehearsal video than in the one they produced for the first single off their album.
The singer is great no doubt but imo falls short of nailing Delps vocals...not a knock on that singer but that is some rare air.Agreed. Nailng the golden pipes of Brad Delptrumpsbeats playing like Tom Scholz. IMHO of course. And that's not a knock on Scholz's playing.
I was going to say the same thing. Delp is one of the greatest. I will admit I am a M##shole Boston fan, so I may have a bit of bias. The singer is great no doubt but imo falls short of nailing Delps vocals...not a knock on that singer but that is some rare air.Agreed. Scholz had a keen interest in music and began recording demos in his home studio while working at Polaroid. These demos attracted the interest of Epic Records who signed Scholz and singer Brad Delp to a recording contract. Scholz believed his demos were good enough to comprise the full contents of Boston's debut album, but Epic told Scholz to re-record the demos. Most of the guitar, bass, and keyboards were performed by Scholz, although other players were involved sporadically throughout the recordings. Epic did not want the album recorded entirely in Scholz's home as Scholz had intended (the label suggested using a recording studio), but most of what ended up on the album was indeed ultimately recorded by Scholz in his basement. The album was released in 1976 and became the biggest-selling debut album by any artist up to that time.
I was there for Boston's debut. (old guy alert) No doubt that Scholz was/is a genius. It's just that playing like Scholz these days is a bit easier than singing like Delp.I was going to say the same thing. Delp is one of the greatest. I was hugely impressed with the instruments. I had never really seen 'Foreplay' done before [insert joke here] so I was intrigued by how some of the sounds were performed. Remember that Tom Scholz was a genius, with the original album being recorded in 1973-75, when the instruments were a bit less.

Right about the vocals, there's just something a bit different.Slightly off topic, but here's a guy who covered Rush's entire "Permanent Waves" album all by himself
He nails it, IMO. The vocals aren't quite "Geddy Lee c. 1980" but they'd be passable as anything Geddy did from the '90s onward.
Not me. I can't play anything. I find this super entertaining. I've listened all the way through 3 times today.glock said:All of this "one guy plays everything" makes me just want to put my guitar out with the recycling...![]()
Methinks it's often a trade-off. See special/Aspergers comments above. Not me. I can't play anything. I find this super entertaining. I've listened all the way through 3 times today.
I can't imagine having the talent to do this.
Yeah. Still, it isn't like I'm George Clooney over here either lol.Methinks it's often a trade-off. See special/Aspergers comments above.
