We are looking for 12-15 players and at least 3-4 judges. We have 8 players so far: myself, wrcrew, Big_Russel, Steve Tasker For President, JMon348, Doug B, larry_boy_44, ChrisCooley Fan. Orange Crush and phthalatemagic have offered to judge.
The last time this was done was three years ago here. I have read through that draft, and everyone seemed to have a lot of fun, but the whole thing became a mess in the end due to arguments over evaluation. In order to avoid that, I have attempted to streamline the process. Here are the rules:
There will be 26 draft rounds. You must take players at the following positions:
Head Coach (1)
Quarterback (1)
Running Backs (2)
Wide Recievers (2)
Offensive Tackle (2)
Offensive guard (2)
Center (1)
Tight End (1)
Defensive Tackle (1 or 2)
Defensive End (2)
Linebackers (3 or 4)
Safeties (2)
Cornerbacks (2)
Kicker (1)
Punter (1)
Return specialist (1)
You can take any player from any era. The judges will each state beforehand in general how they evaluate players: do they treat old time players as equal to newer players and if not, what is the cutoff? Do they judge a player over his entire career, or take three or four best years, or some other criteria? It's important for each judge to be as explicit as possible so that everyone will know what they're getting into before we draft, in order to avoid too many complaints later.
After the draft, each judge will rate each players team on the following scale, in order to arrive at a total number rating for each team:
Coaching 1-10 points
Quarterback 1-10 points
offensive line 1-10 points
running backs 1-10 points
receivers 1-10 points
run defense 1-20 points
pass defense 1-20 points
special teams 1-10 points
Therefore, the "perfect " team would have a score of 100 points.
All judges scores get added up together and we determine who wins.
Once we have enough people signed up we can determine draft order, scheduling, etc. Please respond if you're interested.
NOTE: This draft will take place in the FFA.
