Grown men crying during kids movies (1 Viewer)

(HULK)

(Smash)
Several people have recently referenced crying during the Lego movie, Up, Finding Nemo, and various other children's movies.

I haven't cried in a movie since the very end of Shawshank got me, and that was forever ago. In fact, that was the last time I shed a tear for any reason whatsoever.

Am I a soul less robot? Or is everyone else a bunch of Nancies? Or a little of both?

What's liberal about the sadness of a montage of a lifelong love affair between childhood sweethearts ending with her death and the subsequent loneliness that follows?

Please explain. I'm no liberal.

eta* One of the greatest lines from a rap song ever. ...the toughest [dudes] tear quickly. Pops still cry and he near fifty -- freedom or death. - AZ

Little of both. But if you didn't cry during the first 20 minutes of Up then you are a soulless monster.

You go watch Iron Giant and get back to me tough guy.

I don't think I've ever cried during a movie. I'm sure there were a few that got me choked up a bit but never brought me to tears. I think my problem is that I always look at them as just movies. They aren't real. I just don't get attached the characters. I know they're actors. I actually wish I could enjoy them on a deeper level. The only things I've cried over were people dying or those close to death that I actually know.

ever since we had our son I cry at stuff more. not flat out bawling, but stuff dealing with growing up, moving on, father/son bond will get me choked up and produce a tear.

I had to look this up.

Toy Story 2 was okay
A phrase comedian Dimitri Martin said in "These Are Jokes." Ever since then, fans have been writing this on bathroom stalls and park benches across America.
Dimitri: "Graffiti's the most passionate literature there is, you
know? It's always like 'Bush sucks!' … 'U2 Rocks!' … I want to make indifferent graffiti. 'Toy Story 2 was okay!'

Fans: I'm going to write that everywhere!

This happens to me all the time. I have 2 boys under 3 years old now. I get a little teary all the time. Can barely watch Field of Dreams anymore.

Couldn't tell you the last time I cried... then wife and I had a daughter and I randomly tear up but not cry.... I can't explain it because I call myself a #####

Big test: have you had a pet dog put to sleep in that time?

If you have and didn't cry, that's all the confirmation I need that you're a robot.

As I said in that thread, the beginning of Up and the end of Toy Story 3 get me teary every time. Nemo didn't do it to me (sad part happened too quickly), and neither did Lego (seemed more happy than sad).

I've even cried from a book - Where the Red Fern Grows (see question above).

Oh crap, I was thinking that I wasn't even close to getting teary during Shawshank, but I just remembered it got really dusty after Brooks was let out.

Brooks was here.

Old Yeller
Who saw "Old Yeller?" Who cried when Old Yeller got shot at the end? Nobody cried when Old Yeller got shot? I cried my eyes out.
You know what, I saw this as a child and didn't cry.

I didn't own dogs until I was an adult, so that may have played.

The dogs I own haven't died yet, so we'll see if I cry when they pass. I'm guessing no though.
