H2H strategy (1 Viewer)

Scrap Iron

Footballguy
Been playing roto for 15 years. Trying H2H for the first time this year. Tell me how to dominate!

............................

- Two divisions of five teams

- Two from each division make playoffs

- 9 hitters (UT) / 7 pitchers / 6 bench

- 5x5 (runs & Ks)

- 15 min IP per week

- weekly moves

Same here

I'd imagine you need to build a more flexible lineup... perhaps consider stocking more pitchers (innings limits dont' exist) to rack up more cumulative stats...espcially if your ratios aren't going to be great.

Also consider league mins on IP per week... some folks like to grab the 0.00 WHIP/ERA stats with a single strong performance if they are up against a juggernaut.

Very interested in other feedback and/or pointers for league setup considerations.

Our league is currently set up with standard 5x5 categories... 5 max FA acquisitions per week (to limit pitcher shuffling)... 10 minimum innings pitched per week (to require at LEAST 2 starts or several relief appearances). This will be a 8 or 10 team league... just friends and family..very casual. Full MLB universe.. pretty deep rosters.

I've been playing in a weekly H2H 7X7 league for over 5 years now.

We play with a weekly 25 IP requirement. In this type of setup I usually just meet my IP requirement each week. I hate throwing every SP at my opponent. I usually just pick the best matchups and stick with those guys.

IMO bats are more important in that they give you production every day as opposed to an SP who for the most past plays 1 day a week. I also like to stock up on quality middle relievers to help my ratios each week.

I've also found that stocking up on power guys is far more beneficial per week while rounding out a team with a few guys who can rack up SB (i.e. a Carl Crawford surrounded with sluggers).

Power hitters are far more capable of giving you R/HR/RBI and a general BA/R/HR/RBI/SB 5x5 you can get by with a team of sluggers and 1-2 guys who can get you 1-4 steals a week.

I'd grab premium sluggers then grab a guy like Luis Castillo or somebody of that nature (i.e. a guy who can accumulate 25-35 steals by the end of the season who won't cost nearly as much as a Carl Crawford). The ideal guys would be a Gary Sheffield or Jimmy Rollins, guys capable of 20/20 seasons.
