Hakeem Nicks (1 Viewer)

Hoping we get some reports about how he looks in war ups soon. Thanks to Stevie and lynch being hurt, I have to play him...but I'm hoping he isn't just a decoy tonight. Of course, there is also the chance that Dallas puts double coverage on Cruz because of the injury, and nicks gets some open space to move.

Nicks is a stud and always puts up WR1 numbers, seemingly especially when he's questionable.I don't know why everyone's freaking out.

The beauty of Nicks is he can get it ALL on one play...
*Fingers crossed that the play is coming* The good news is that Dallas is likely going to score on this drive, so they will be in comeback mode and hopefully looking to Nicks.

The lame thing is the Manning loves to throw it to the guy with butter on his hands. Cruz just does not have good hands, at least according to tonight. Maybe Nicks will get back up to speed in practice next week.

I'm gonna need to watch the All-22 tape to see if he was running his routes gingerly. I almost hope the answer is YES.

38 yards is brutal.

Well, either DAL's CBs stepped up or Nicks was laboring because from what I could tell, from some of the replays, it looked like he was struggling to gain separation. I'm inclined to think it was a little bit of both. I don't think it's time to hit the panic button though, remember he pretty much got no preseason reps. He'll bounce back.

When all else fails...GO TO THE TAPE .
Damn, I forget who it was... but one of the NFLN analysts said he did not like the way Nicks was running his routes in the final preseason game. He said he was running "cautiously" or something like that. Almost trying not to get hurt.

Oh, I believe you, I just think its awesome that we can ACTUALLY go to the tape now.TO THE TAPE .

I know the dude toughs out injuries, but I'm still worried about how many snaps he'll be able to be on the field. I need to take some chances this week, given my opponent's roster/matchups. I just need to decide whether Nate Washington vs NEP is "upside" relative to a Nicks who may not be on the field as much as usual.
Everyone will disagree, but I think NE defense is better than Dallas this year (brace for ####storm)
Man its gonna take all year or an amazing first game for this to be true...

OR....Just realize its Week 1 against corners who played him well after coming back from a broken foot.He will be a stud through most games this year.

Getting separation is not his forte. he is not Victor Cruz. His forte is going up to get the ball and run after the catch ability.

Its still early, they did have a pretty good lockdown on Nicks the whole game. I expect him to get better over the season, but it was disappointing to see him flounder after all the positive talk about his foot. You still have to start this guy

He has 11 days before the next game. If his foot was hurting him, he'll have plenty of time to rest before week 2. If his foot wasn't hurting him, he was just shut down by a good rookie CB...either way, I'm not worried.

Manning was given NO time to throw, and often when he did

a) he made a bad throw

b) his receivers BLEW the play with drops (CRUZ especially)

Nicks may only have have gone 4-38, but he looked, in my eyes, the best of the receivers. When a ball is in his vicinity, he catches it. Cruz helped killed that game for the giants with some huge drops.

I own both, so Im not being biased in my assessment

cruz will have games like this time to time b/c he is not a great hands catcher like nicks, he catches quite a few with his body. when u watch nicks catch the ball and how hard he snatches it out of the air u expext the ball to deflate.

cruz isnt a better wr but he will likely be a better fantasy wr b/c he fills more the slot role with the short combo/option routes he runs.

aside from nicks foot and claibornes solid coverage, on the fisrt Giants play of the game Eli went deep on the sideline to Nicks and you would see what they employed allgame...........a safety deep rolling over the top of Nicks. Cowboys were well prepared

I agree with the last couple posts, the Dallas secondary/D did a real good job all around. I also think Nicks first real action of the year showed. I definitely don't think he was 100%, so that hurt, but he also caught everything that was catchable. He has great hands and to be honest, I was surprised he wasn't targetted in the red zone. That is where he shines because of his hands. Wasn't a great day for Eli, so it wasn't going to be a great day for Nicks, but all in all, I was happy he ended the game healthy and should get better.

if it wasn't for the MANY drops. i counted 7..... Eli's stats would be a lot better, and New York might have won that game.

As far as I could tell, Cowboys came to play, Giants were still on their Superbowl high. And once they started exploiting that cornerback matchup with Tryon or whatever his name is, Romo had a field day!

I stared him and it might hurt, have Green on the bench, DOH! I think it was last year I sat him and he went off... Eli had him for a TD if he just makes a throw over the defender but went to Cruz (who was held). He didn't look 100% to me, not very aggressive in his patterns and cuts. WIth 11 days off hopefully he'll get totally healthy but it definitely bears watching. Instead of trusting my gut I listened to all the talking heads who said start him!!! It does look like the Giants are going to need him to have big year.
