Hard Knocks with the Texans; Coaches like to curse (2 Viewers)

Brian Hoyer, Ryan Mallet starring in "QB Battle of the ages!"...

Alfred Blue, Chris Polk, Jonathon Grimes headlining "Who replaces Arian!?!?"...

Gonna be some riveting television.

They may as well just keep the camera focused on JJ Watt the entire series.

I can't wait for this to start. I've been watching this series every year since it began I believe. I just added HBO to my account last week so I can watch again this year. Already have the timer set on the DVR.

Something about watching this tells me that the Houstons are in for a trainwreck type season. Thinking 3-4 wins here.

Also Vince W is not human. Dude looks like some sort of extinct primate

Watt is the player every team dreams of. Dedicated man there.

Really not impressed with their QB situation. I think Hopkins can be great if a QB steps up their game.

Watt with the line of the night: "Garcon, you're maybe 112 pounds.... you might wanna stay the #### back from the defensive line."

Agree completely with the sentiment that they might be worse than we think. Nothing tonight, except Watt, showed me much. But Watt showed a ton. His quickness around when he was doing those dummy drills in the dark was not human. But otherwise it was all bad. Even Hopkins, who looked great on the field, seemed to be a little too mouthy at times. Hoyer looked terrible and seriously lacked confidence I thought. VW looked old and slow to me. The top pick in the draft from one year ago is MIA. I was most surprised by O'Brian. I guess I had a vision of his 'hard nose attitude' in my head but the real life showing of it wasn't that at all. The whole name game schtick at the beginning I thought was pretty pathetic. Of course they don't know. It's their first day. Geez... Don't go all Hitler Youth on them for not knowing the creed on day one. Just my thoughts..... But, but, Watt is the man.

It may be day one of training camp but these players have been on the team for months now. They've gone to OTAs together. Might want to know some of the veterans on the team. Just like any new job, don't you want to know who everyone is?

So when does this show hit HBO Now? I thought all programming hit in real time. WTF
I know for HBOGo, it doesn't get on there until 5pm the day after it airs. Why it's different for some shows I have no idea. When I used HBOGo to watch True Detective, all the episodes were up at the same time they were airing on TV.

Wilfork's wife is.... well, not attractive.
There was a stink a couple of years ago. Local radio station has Ted Johnson on it and they have a segment callers ask them questions and try to come up with something the host won't be willing to answer.

One of them asked Johnson which former teammate had the ugliest wife, and he answered Wilfork. Wilfork found out and wasn't happy about it, to say the least.

How about that neck on Kevin Johnson's father?

Oops should have figured this has been discussed already

His dad seemed real creepy. At first I thought it was his weird older brother and the girl was his gf. She's real nice to look at.

As for the Foster injury, I was surprised they didn't have anything to show as well. It could have something to do with the team not wanting that video released or something like that.

Something interesting............................

I do about 99% of ALL my TV viewing online, on my computer.

I generally watch things online through any one of a number of streaming sites. (this also has the added benefit of no commercials, though that is a non factor with Hard Knocks)

Most popular programs, are almost always available, generally within a couple of hours after they air the first time on most networks.

So you can mostly get anything, even "Game of Thrones", "Breaking Bad" or whatever the flavor of the month is, almost immediately after airing.

This is also true of popular Australian, New Zealand and even UK programming too, some of which I watch also.

Occasionally, someone will leak a big show online, even before its aired too, though that is a rarity.

Anyway, I noticed several years ago, that "Hard Knocks" always hit the popular streaming sites, much later than other programs.

I have a few ideas for why this is, but I think its a combination of 2 things, that puts it behind the others. We may never know for sure though.

A- It airs late night. I think it comes on at 10 p.m. eastern right? This automatically makes it available later, than many of the primetime shows, or anything that is aired before it.

B - Many shows from "premium channels" seem to hit the streaming sites a bit later. I have a guess or two as to why this is, but I am not sure why honestly.

Shows like "Game of Thrones" is often available literally minutes after it ends. The widespread popularity of a handful of shows, gives them exposure that certain other shows don't have. I am guessing that there are far fewer people watching "Hard Knocks" , than a select few of the really huge shows that hit the streaming sites almost immediately.

Basically, more people will be uploading these shows to those streaming sites, than Hard Knocks. (Hard Knocks is just one example though)

The last couple of years, "Hard Knocks" tended to be widely available online after the original airing, somewhere in the neighborhood of about 6-7 hours later.

Last year in specific, I remember having to watch the ATL Falcons episodes, the next morning/night, and not the night it originally aired.

If anyone happens to know a specific reason as to why this show is available so much later online, than most others, I would like to know.

I do not watch any shows like this, online at any of the specific network sites.

On that note, I will be watching last nights episode tonight. :D

I hope big Vince doesn't light me up on Twitter for my comment.

His wife had a great follow-up:

I wish people would not bag on folks like this actually. But that's obviously far too much to ask of the internet...

Gotta love Ben Jones story of puking on the football in college.

BOB: What did the quarterback do?

Jones: He was a freshman, what's he gonna say?
