Haren to the Angels (1 Viewer)

Doesn't say who the minor leaguers are. Angels homers, any speculation as to who they may be?
LHP Patrick Corbin, RHP Rafael Rodriguez and a player to be named.
Not sure of the upside of Corbin, but he had better turn out to be really good. Rodriguez is a non-prospect, Saunders is n average SP, and players to be named are usually not much. D'Backs had to have been better off holding onto Haren and hoping he regained his form in 2011.

The trade is getting panned on twitter.

Looks like a pure salary dump, but you'd have to think they could get more than that.

Its not like it is any worse than the other rumored deals (like the Yankees one), but I have to wonder why they chose Saunders. Is he arbitration eligible yet? I think he is better than his stats show this season, but I thought one of the reasons the D Backs would get rid of Haren was for his very high salary?

Patrick Corbin Stats

2nd round pick in 2009

And Rodriguez is a middle relief prospect.

Might have been better off waiting until the offseason.

Oh yeah, and as for the Angels, love the deal. Haren is a frontline starter.

Don't know if they can catch the Rangers, but the deal sets them up very nicely next year. Losing Kendry Morales hurt that offense alot. And they need another power bat.

It's embarrassing that MLB network has analysts on who claim Joe Saunders is good because "he won 16 games and 17 games the last two years."

I just don't understand, if you are looking to dump salary, why get a guy in return who is going to be arbitration eligible soon?

Arizona was always asking for too much. Haren is good and I would love to have him on the Tigers. But he's not a steal salary-wise. He has a fair contract. So it's tough for a team to pay the rest of that contract AND give up a lot.

Given that the D-Backs gave up Brett Anderson, Chris Carter and Carlos Gonzalez to get Haren, this seems like a pretty good haul.

Some stuff floating around that the PTBL is a top prospect, but unless that guy is Trout I still don't get the deal. None of Conger, Bourjos, and Trumbo have the ceiling necessary to justify a deal like this one.

Yeah I was thinking this earlier. D'bags organization is falling apart at the seams, they are looking like the Orioles West at the moment.

A couple of years ago, I thought they were going to be the dominant team in the NL West for the next half decade. Baseball is a funny game.

They had me fooled. Bet them in Vegas to win the 2008 WS at good odds, thinking they would be a good, young suprise team. Luckily I bet my Phils too. Angels came out of nowhere to grab steal Haren, I guess no one wants to help the Yanks unless they rape them in a trade. (which I understand)

Haren and Webb as the top 2 starting pitchers looked awfully good back then. Stephen Drew never had the breakout expected, and the offense is an all or nothing low ob % crew. I still think Upton will be a star, but the rest of that offense isn't so good.
