Has anyone ever been in a league where the WW functioned during the ga (1 Viewer)

....and I look to make a couple moves on the WW (Ward and Chris Brown) and both were picked up during the games they played in on Sunday. I've never seen a league that had the WW functioning on the weekend. It always starts on Tuesday.

Has anyone been in a league like this?

Yes, I was in a league that did that for years. I remember Priest's first year in KC and he did nothing the first two games so I droppped. Gets hot in the 3rd game of the season, my internet was terrible that morning, by the time I could get him at half time and he was gone. Ouch.

I joined a small, " friendly" league with some friends on Yahoo and noticed the same thing. For example, Derrick Ward was picked up within like 5 minutes of Jacobs getting hurt.

I sent a message to the commish because i think its absolutely ridiculous to let that happen

I spent 1 year doing this with an MFL league, I really disliked it. Penalizes you if you attend/watch games without quick access to the website.

I didn't even know it was a possibility. I have a pocket PC. I could've logged in and grabbed those guys, but in 13 years of doing this, I have never seen that as even an option....

We do it in our league. Not really sure why it's any worse than establishing an arbitrary time when the WW unlocks. Especially for the 9am EST time established by CBS that really puts our west coast owners at a disadvantage.

Because some of us actually attend the games.

Even if the time is arbitrary, it's not like you have to be there at that time - you just have to enter your picks beforehand. It's not really so much of a race and you aren't penalized for being live at a game, watching from a sports bar without internet access, or goodness forbid doing something else for a moment.

pretty sure it is still the wayall basic yahoo leagues work. i think it is ridiculous.

That's the thing. If you are at a game, maybe tailgate before and after you might not have any idea that Chris Brown went off for 160. On Monday you see that and you put in a bid for Tuesday. But if the guy is gone by 2 pm on Sunday you're screwed....

It is the only option on Free Yahoo leagues. You have to upgrade to get the Sunday Tuesday waivers. I don't like it, but I am not paying Yahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

Eh? Many of my leagues are always first come, first serve free agency. Not all leagues go to "waivers" each week.

That's why God invented the mobile phone. If you don't see that until Mon, you're not a "fanatic".

In the first year of a league that started on Yahoo, we had the always-on waivers. It was bad. The next year we adopted a request system that the Commish managed manually, which was some work but made the process much fairer. After requests were processed, FCFS waivers opened for the week.Since we've moved to MFL, we've kept the same system, using the option that rolls the waiver priority list whenever a request is filled. Teams that get a player move to the bottom of the priority list. In that league, it works very well; owners who rely heavily on the waiver wire still pretty much get what they want, but there's a slight advantage to being choosier--and drafting better.

Not in CBS leagues where everything is locked until TUE morning, and then its fcfs. Or Yahoo leagues, for that matter.

:coffee:Got one guy in the league who's the dork who sits at home in front of the computer instead of a TV, watching all the scores tick by, he's the guy who grabs whoever's up seconds after an injury or someone starts getting hot. Really annoying. To compete with that, you'd have to do what he does, which is not really watch any games at all.I hate it. I much prefer the Tuesday WW. Gives you all day Monday and most of the day Tuesday to get updates, MRIs, etc.

I didn't realize CBS leagues did this as well. My CBS league doesn't, it's an arbitrary time, but you can claim at any time and every claim gets processed in Waiver Wire order. I much prefer that system. It runs at like 3:05 AM Wednesday, but you can put in the claim any time before that and it'll just step through the waiver order and make moves based on that.
