I was outside yesterday riding around on the tractor, sucking up leaves and just thinking of different things.  I thought about my 20 year wedding anniversary coming up in December and I realized that I've almost been married longer than my parents.  It was a strange thought, because to me, they had been married forever before getting divorced.  I remember being really angry at the time and thinking "You've made it this long, why would you get divorced NOW?"  Fifteen years later and I have a better understanding of how it can happen..

I haven't been married longer than them yet, but barring any unforeseen circumstances, I will.

Just curious to hear from others...

Parents had a rough spot for a few years.   Not sure if they do still love each other but they are married now for 45 years

My parents were married for about 3 years; my wife and I had our 15th anniversary in August. In fact I think I have the total years of my mom's 3 marriages beat.

My parents were married for 40 years before they got divorced. My wife and I just had our 14th wedding anniversary in September. We've got a long way to go but as long as we're both still alive in 26 years I think we'll make it.

My parents we HS sweethearts. Went to college together, and have been married since shortly thereafter. They have been married for over 50 years.

They're at 46 and going strong. They got married right out of college too. I am at 9 years and got married a little later in life. I won't catch them.

My parents have been married 53 years, my in-laws for 63.  My wife and I hit 31 in about a month ...so "other" - To Be Determined.

My wife was my girlfriend in 6th grade..  We never dated in High School, but graduated together and started dating shortly after...

Yes, my dad died when they were married 9 years and I've now been married for 10.  I hope that my next marriage lasts even longer.

Mom died when I was 11, they had been married about 16 years. Dad was married to his second wife almost 29 years before he died. Wife and I hit 29 next month. Chose yes.

my parents never got married.  My mom still has never been married.  My dad was married to his wife (not really "second wife," but "second time having kids"?) for 16 years before passing away.  I got married 3 weeks after my dad got married, so 16 for me.

So . . . . yes.  Longer than they were married.  Which is none.  None more married.

My parents were only married about 3 years. But my Mom and Stepdad were married 30+ years before they both passed. My Dad and Stepmom have been married for 36 years now. I only made it 10 years. nomarriage.com for me going forward, so beating either set of parents is not going to happen.

Never knew my father.

Mom and her husband got married 8/8/88 and are going strong.

Wife and I have been married for 15. It's been up and down but we're in a very good place now. We both agree to revaluate after the kids are in collage. The girls are 10 & 12.

So, Maybe?

If you are talking biological parents then yes, already outlasted them.  17 years to 14.  My mom remarried and has been married to my Step-Dad for 32 years (and counting).  My Dad wins the poor, stupid ******* award - he's been married 5 times to 4 different women.  I think this one is going to last but he wrecked his financials for life with the multiple marriages.

Yes.. parents divorced when I was 5.. they made it a total of 7 years..

Wife & I just celebrated our 25th

Voted no and I never will be.

My parents had been married 23 years when my father died.  I had been married just under 22 years when my wife passed away.  Don't expect to get married again and stay married for 23+ years.

I probably should have voted other.  I can't say for sure whether I will pass them - it is unlikely as they got married at a younger age, and are still married, but I can't say for certain that I won't pass them.

Similar story. First date was to our 8th grade graduation dance. Second was to a family picnic a few weeks later. Third was after first year of college.

We were friends in high school and when we started actually dating, she was engaged to my next door neighbor.

It will be 24 years for my wife and I here. Being a type one diabetic for the past 40 years, I just don't have the life expectancy to catch my parents.

My dad died last year just shy of their  60th anniversary and my wife's parents are still going strong at 53 years.

My parents are at 40 now. So really it will just come down to who lives longer out of all of us. With my wife's MS, odds seem against us barring advances in treatment.

My wife's parents were married 56 years when her mom died.  My parents just celebrated their 65th anniversary and are still going strong.  So I have some work to catch them.

We hit 21 years this week. It is longer than my mom and dad, their seconds, and her third combined. Dad has more total years married than I do but I will win eventually.

My Inlaws are at 57 I think. Only time will tell if we last longer.

Married 30 years. My parents lasted 8 I think. That's when he went out to get milk and I didn't see him again for 13 years

My Dad turned 83 this year and my Mom turned 76. They celebrated their 57th anniversary this year as well. I'm on 15 right now and would have to hit 88 and my wife 95 just to get to 57 years. The odds are against me.

My parents are at 46 yrs. my wife and i are at 16 yrs.  like a few others have said, they were marriedat an earlier age than we were so, maybe?

Same with my old man and he had 6 kids in those 8 yrs. He eventually found some milk in New Jersey along with another wife and kids.

Parents just had their 71st. I'd have to live to be 117 and my wife to be 102 (LOOK AT ME), so I don't think I'm going to catch them.

My parents made it 12 years before divorcing. My wife and I just celebrated our 17th anniversary and still going strong.
