Having QB1 and RB1 from same NFL Team? (1 Viewer)

For my particular situation, I am almost certainly keeping Matt Ryan for the price of a 9th round pick (we each keep 1 player).  I draft from the 12 spot and Freeman may be there.  I am debating whether to take him at the turn.

Generally, I have avoided taking a QB1/RB starter from the same NFL team absent a great dropoff in value otherwise.  Is this a perspective others share or disagree with?

Don't really see a reason not to. If they are the best available players, then draft them. They aren't going to score differently because you have both of them. That said, you don't have a better keeper than Ryan? I mean 9th round is pretty close to where he should be going in my opinion.

Way back in 2004 a league was won with James, Harrison and Wayne all in the weekly lineup. Also a league was won in 2015, by a team with Roethlisberger, DeAngelo, Brown and Bryant starting every week once Bell went down.

I have no issue taking talent from same team. I do think Ryan will come down to earth a bit and new OC might take some time. After top 3 QB's the rest are slipping pretty far. It's a very deep draft class. Not much separation. Ryan is the 5th-7th best QB. Comparing him to a stafford 12th/13th ranked. Not much diff in its per week.

But to answer your question if Freeman is there at 12 lock him in. if McCoy is there I like a few people better than Free.

But at end of day the best fantasy teams are ones that pick on value. Stick to your rankings and let the research you've done help guide you.

I actually like to have the RB and WR from high powered offenses.  You will likely get a piece of every TD scored by that team and regardless of game script you will be involved.  I like it better than the QB-WR connection from the same team because it is a bit more diversified.  Of course, I won't reach for one of the two positions if it's not warranted but I do look to get that combo for offenses like Atlanta that have quality players at both RB and QB.

I would pick up Freeman without hesitation.

100% agree with this. You draft the players you believe will score the most points. If, at your pick, you have decided to go RB, and Freeman is your top rated RB, you should take him. If he isn't your top rated RB, you don't take him.
