Haynesworth charged with assault (1 Viewer)

Hmmm might wanna wait on this one. The story sounds weird. Some guy says he was assaulted by a guy who was tailgating him? And fwiw even though most confuse the 2 assault is not battery. Assault is merely threatening someone. It is entirely possible that this guy was the aggressor etc, but upon realizing who haynesworth was decided to try and get some coin out of a 'two #######s driving in rush hour' type thing. I'd wait to see where this goes before people start suspending him for games etc.

Interesting. The guy did claim he was hit, and yet no battery charge?

Feb 4, 2011 - Washington Redskins' resident nice guy Albert Haynesworth, you will be surprised to learn, has a warrant out for his arrest, after a Wednesday incident on a Virginia highway in which he's been accused of striking another motorist. According to the police report, a driver on the Fairfax County Parkway felt he was being tailgated by Haynesworth and offered him a "non-verbal hand gesture." Haynesworth, noted #####cat that he is, waited until the next red light to get out of his car, approach the car in front of him, and hit him. The charge is simple assault, a misdemeanor in Virginia.

The reaction from the team has been about what you'd expect:

A Redskins executive said the team was unaware of the incident or the charge. "This is the first I'm hearing about this," Tony Wyllie, Redskins senior vice president, said in a phone interview with Redskins beat reporter Jason Reid. "At this time, we need to gather information."

Haynesworth is out of town, according to his lawyer, and is waiting until next week to surrender, which you can apparently do. If there's a bright side to all this, it's that he really must have been keeping up with his conditioning during his recent suspension if he can step on his nonverbal assailant's face from outside the guy's car. Look at that flexibility!

Mamma said knock you out.

Update via RedskinsInsider: Haynesworth's agent, Chad Speck, says he did not assault anyone and will cooperate with authorities...man in road rage incident is "trying to turn it into his 15 minutes of fame and get, we can only assume, some money"

The drama never ends with Haynesworth, who is expected to turn himself in after hitting a man in a road rage incident. If Haynesworth wants a release, he just punched his ticket, literally:

The episode occurred Wednesday morning, and involved a 38-year-old man driving a 1994 Honda Civic and another driver, allegedly Haynesworth, both driving south on the Fairfax County Parkway, Broderick said. The driver of the Civic reportedly felt that a pickup truck following behind him was tailgating, and issued a "non-verbal hand gesture" to the pickup driver, Broderick said.

About 9:16 a.m...the two vehicles came to a stoplight. Broderick said the driver of the pickup truck emerged from his vehicle, had a brief exchange of words, and then struck the Civic driver.

Haynesworth, 29, has not been arrested but is planning to turn himself in next week, Officer Shelley Broderick said.

The "non-verbal gesture" I think we can assume was the middle finger. Talk about some brass balls. How awesome is that bar story going to be for this guy? "Yea, I gave Haynesworth the middle finger." I think I can speak for all Redskins fans that we applaud you.

Haynesworth's driving debacles are well-documented as his speeding in Tennessee left a young man paralyzed for life.

Cut the guy. Now.
