HBO Hard Knocks 2014: Atlanta Falcons (1 Viewer)

Hageman seems really difficult to coach. He's pretty soft, he loafs, he's unenthusiastic. Pulling his t-shirt up over his face made him seem like a 6 year old. Then he's just standing there not making eye contact, ignoring his coach, as Cox tells him again and again to start running. I wanted to reach through the screen and slap the dude.

If your coach has to keep telling you that you're a physical football team and not soft....you're soft.

Off topic, Harbaugh is a great coach.
Off topic. No he really isn't. He hasn't won anything ever, has he? Nobody cares who takes second place.
Two words. Butt Hurt. Hey I get it, I didn't like Favre for years cuz he used to knock the niners out of the playoffs. Doesn't mean I didn't think he was a great player. I think you're a bit confused.

I don't understand why every team is not covered like this then in the offseason we get this drama packaged to us. With the foresight of how everything plays out.

It's the entertainment business. The NFL is a massive ratings juggernaut that drives network/cable tv yet this is relegated to HBO five weeks a year. Doesn't make sense to me. The NFL has a network for god's sake. How are they not filling their programming in the offseason with this?

:goodposting: Then I might not be 'forced' to only watch no charisma having Mike Smith and his mediocre teams.

It takes so much work and so many people just to make one episode. If they did every team it would not come close to the quality of hard knocks. I read they have to comb through hundreds of hours of footage a week to find one hour worth.

They pump out episodes in a week in real time on HBO. Reality shows don't do that. Seasons are taped months in advance. If you had until the offseason to package and focus on the major storylines/games throughout the season I don't see the challenge.

We don't need to see an hour each week for every team. Just give me a few episodes each week that encapsulate that week in the NFL. If the Arizona Cardinals did nothing impressive in week 3 their is no need to go through that footage. You already know the outcome. You just comb through the footage of the teams that have the best story/week.

Seems inevitable to me. Remember when American Idol was dominating tv for years on end and thinking why don't other networks do their own version. Just common sense. Then we got the The Voice and X-Factor. The Voice was a major hit and those shows at the very least watered down the genre to the point where AI wasn't dominating anymore. Meaning, just because tv executives haven't done it yet doesn't mean much.

The NFL network will eventually follow all the teams and package the footage and we will wonder why it took so long.

I love this show every year but this time around it's been almost boring. I think it's the coaching staff. Not enough good Brian Cox moments.

After watching this show I give the falcons zero chance of being in a SB. Just not gonna happen with the staff and ownership they have. Very Bengals-like.

Haven't watched tonight's yet but agree it's been very lame. Could barely finish last weeks, such a boring team and they didn't find the great story lines they normally do.

I've been looking for episode 4 for a week on On Demand and it hasn't shown up yet. I guess HBO is so embarrassed they have destroyed the tape.

Roddy white came off like such a total clown. Ryan organizes a meeting to make sure all the young guys know the play book and 10 year veteran White can't even answer 1 simple question. Just throws that stupid grin on his face and giggles because he has no idea what his responsibility is. What a dope.

The guy who was calling everyone to tell them they were cut was kinda pissing me off too. How about enunciating your words a little bit chief?

"Hey Ricardo?....this is Scothjasdalghgsaglfabaalcons"

I think if I got cut by Smith and Dimitroff, I might just tell them "no." I think it's 50/50 they'd cave and try to cut somebody less difficult instead.

I took him not answering as a playful seriously bro?

He could probably recite that playbook in his sleep by now.

Yea no doubt. The yawn was his answer.

I'm pretty sure Roddy knows all the assignments.

And "Scott from the Falcons" has one of the worst jobs in sports.

I thought Roddy came off as a fun guy and solid teammate.
They did show him helping Amsterdam in the next scene. He's a little playful for my taste, but it seems like a pretty laid back atmosphere overall anyway.

I keep wondering why they drafted Hageman if they wanted to portray a new level of toughness? That guy is Charmin soft.

I'm glad Starr made the team. The shot of wifey's knuckle in her yoga pants made my night.

Bryan Cox was great. He knows his stuff and has a whole lot of charisma, but I wonder if his career is going to plateau at a D-Line/Secondary/Linebackers type of position. Teams might be leery of giving him a high profile position because he brings along a Bobby Knight mentality, which is a type of mentality that doesn't exist in these days.

Ricardo Allen's girlfriend seems... well, she probably ditched him and found a single guy on the 53-man roster already.

That was my feeling as well. That and the fact that I hate his face.
I hate it too, don't know why.

And Tyler Starr's fiance looks like she fell asleep in the tanning booth.

Dimitroff and Arthur Blank are accomplished people but both seem like empty suits to me.

Basically everybody on this show sucked except Brian Cox.

He didn't seem any more abrasive than any other position coach I've ever seen.

Cox is a teddy bear compared to Mike Westhoff.

Devonta Freeman's stock has not changed at all since before the first episode. That tells you right there they failed.

I did learn that DJ Swearinger is a world class #######

its funny that he will admit that he didnt take the game seriously for his first few years in the league. i cant imagine how lazy he was then if he thinks hes working hard now.

How do you think a 10 year vet should behave? IMO you need guys like Roddy in the locker room.
