Hefty Dynasty 2 QB Trade - (Jimmy G and 1.02) (1 Viewer)

Hey, just lost in the championship game in my league, and as frustrated as I am, I'm trying to shore up my obvious weakness. Here's my offer (I think):

I get Jimmy G and 1.02 (I'll be picking Josh Rosen almost regardless of team)

for

Dalvin Cook, Jacoby Brissett, 2.09, 3.6, 2019 mid 1st, 2020 1st

Full Dynasty, .5 PPR
2QB, 3WR, 3RB, 2TE, 1 Flex, D, K

QB: Rivers, T. Taylor, Bradford, Manning, McCown, Brissett

WR: B. Cooks, Crabtree, Hopkins, Funchess, Cobb, S. Shepard, M. Bryant, John Brown, Kendall Wright, Zay Jones

RB: Kamara, Hunt, McCaffrey, Freeman, Dalvin Cook, J. Richard, Mike Davis

TE: Delanie Walker, Hunter Henry, ASJ

I'm basically trading the majority of my draft capital in this offer outside of a late 2019 1st. Good trade, bad trade?

Seems a lot like trading for tradings sake. Personally I'd rather have Dalvin Cook than Jimmy G.
This is a 2QB league so that changes things some.  Typically I would agree with you however in a 2 QB league that vaults Jimmy G way up the rankings.

Although, I do think you are giving up a bit too much.  I would think you keep one of the 1sts out of the deal.  You have the depth to give up Cook and I would give up any QB that the guy wanted (Brissett may not have much value if Luck is healthy).  I would try and keep Rivers as a bridge but to get Jimmy G I would give him up if that was the deal breaker (I would rather keep my future 1st rounder than Rivers).

This may change if you have any keeper restrictions (salary cap, length keepable, etc).

If he gives up Rivers, who is his 2nd QB in 2018? No guarantee that Rosen is going to start and having seen some growing pains, I wouldn't be crazy about the idea of throwing Rosen out there without a strong plan B. I'd like to know what 2018 picks he has and how many teams. This move looks more attractive in a 12 team league than an 8 team league.

He still has Taylor, Manning, Brissett (if Rivers went instead) and McCown.  He could cobble a 2nd QB out of those guys while his rookie of choice comes up to speed.  He would also be able to maneuver in season with some of his RB depth if he wanted to make a big push if needed.

I just don't see Rivers as having a high dynasty value (even in two QB leagues) as he always has the meltdown possibility if they have negative for turnovers.  I don't think the dropoff to his other QB's as being so much that he is a deal breaker to get a potential cornerstone QB for the next 5-10 years.

That's why I was looking for # of teams. In a 12-14 team league, Rivers is a low #1 QB, while in an 8-10 team league, he's a high #2 QB. A small league also means that it won't be as difficult to find a replacement level QB, while a 12-14 team league is going to have little available as guys guard against their bye weeks.

My major issue is that I can see a fairly clear path to him not having any #2 QB if he rolls with Taylor/Manning/Brissett/McCown. Can see a chance where none of the 4 are starting a month into the season. The fact that he has so many QB20-32 makes me think this is an 8 team league. In a larger league, there'd be value with these types of QBs, at least for bye week coverage.

I can agree with that.  League size and a list of possible QB's available would be a factor in the decision for sure.  However, I do think between those 4 guys he should be able to have a solid qb2 based on matchups.  Worst case is a couple lose starting jobs and limit the options but I would be willing to take that risk.  I think all have shown enough that they will have starting jobs (except Brissett if Luck is healthy - big IF).

I get Jimmy G's appeal except for the fact that he is already rostering 6 other QB's. He is better off with a stronger RB than another QB.
