Hello Helu. (1 Viewer)

I know he had kind of a breakout week last week, but as I looked at my custom cheat sheets for week 10, I see Helu is the 7th RB overall, ahead of my other starters (Fjax, Mathews, DeMarco, JStew.)

This ranking surprises me. I see him as probably a top 15 back going forward in PPR as long as he gets the most snaps, but 7th after last week? Anyone else see this?

God knows I love wasting everyone's time here in the SP.

No I'm actually really a bit surprised that he's ranked ahead of Forte, MJD, Fred Jackson, Mathews.... I guess no one else is! Go Helu! I mean, I do own him, so I should be elated right?

Tuesday rankings almost always have at least one thing well out of wack. Search the pool if you want to verify.

I don't think he's going to get 14 catches again, and he didn't prove he can be an effective every down RB. I think he has value for sure, but I wouldn't want to count on him as a consistent contributor.

This. Most fish will just look at the point line and think he had some awesome performance. There's no way he keeps anything near that production going forward (receptions). NFL defenses will always adjust to what the offense shows them. The redskins next opponent won't allow Beck so many check downs.

I would think the Redskins opponents would try to force him into more check downs. Especially considering his proclivity for it. That would be the preferred outcome for the defense.

But what were we expecting against the 49ers? They have the best run defense in the NFL, allowing a scant 70 yards on 20 carries a game. 10 for 41 actually doesn't look so bad in that context.

It doesn't, I just don't think he's shown he's the man yet. He may certainly do that in coming weeks, but IMO the jury is still out, and I wouldn't rule out Tashard Choice from getting a shot once he's healthy, and Torain could always resurface. To me, it's a mess, and I'd be trying to move Helu like hell this week.

The check downs had little to do with what the defense was allowing. The week before, Beck held the ball too long and took 10 sacks. This week he didn't hold the ball long enough, which resulted in Helu's 14 catches and more than a few missed opportunities to open receivers down field. He swung from one extreme to the other. The OL and the QB are basically a mess right now, which, IMO, is the biggest reason for production swings and inconsistencies for any particular Redskin RB.

i've been here a few months, and I realize everyone likes to be harsh to others on this site.

Somehow I read your first post thinking you were saying he looked bad, but you didn't really say that at all. I agree with you, it's anybodys guess how many touches he will see next week, and I wouldn't start him unless I had a lot going on with byes and injuries.

Can we at least wait till the real rankings are posted. I swear theres always one thread thats like this. If this was thursday or fridays rankings it would be a better discussion

I do agree with the "Shanny is insane" argument.

That being said, he was my RB4, and i packaged him with Brandon Marshall for Hakeem Nicks. This makes Nicks my WR3 (behind Calvin and Fitz.) Great success.
