Help! How do I explain defense to someone??? (1 Viewer)

Help!!  I am talking to a guy who is playing in a PPR league for the first time.  He's played non leagues before.  He is hell bent on the fact that he thinks there is a cap of 10 points allowed for a defense to score.  I am struggling with how to convince him this is not true, even though GB had 13 from last nights game!!  Is there proof somewhere that I can show him?  Can someone help me come up with what to use for an explanation.  He keeps saying that defenses were not rated high and I keep telling him yes, that's because defense is not the point maker for our league.  He said ESPN even had a discussion about it and that if both teams have a touchdown, then the max is 10 for the defense to score.

Any suggestions are helpful!  And if this is the wrong forum, my apologies and I'll post to the right one!

Scoring systems vary widely of course. But if his ESPN source is correct, it might be something like "Defenses can score at most 10 points on one play."  Sack, forced fumble, fumble recovery touchdown is often more like 12 points, but maybe ESPN's default scoring makes it 10?

That said, never heard of any cap on scoring other than what is physically possible on the NFL field (9.9+6 for a rushing TD for instance).

The reason Dfenses arent rated high has little to do with how many points they score.  The reason(s) are A  there doesnt tend to be much difference from the top to the bottom rosterable defenses every year  and B since most teans usually only roster 1 (can vary from league to league obviously)  that leaves  plenty on the waiver wire to play matchups with.
