I'm not sure what is wrong, I think it might be a hernia but checking I don't feel anything out of the ordinary.Anyway the pain is left below my navel, sometimes feel it in my testicle, not super painful but really just uncomfortable, like a constant strain.Doctor hopefully tomorrow, definitely this week.Any other diagnoses besides ball cancer...

Doctor thinks I have an Inguinal hernia, possibly overdoing it at gym.Ct scan, if that shows it then surgery....

I had a situation where I had some junk dropping down into my sack. When I would do situps, I would feel go in and out of the sack area. It turned out to be a hernia. I was in LOTS of pain after the surgery, and my sack hung to my knees. When I went back to the doc he said, "Well, your insides actually attached to your left testicle, so I had to knock it off with one of my instruments. It didn't want to come off though and I had to apply some force, so that's probably why you are still in pain now."It pretty much sucked.

WAT?I am pretty sure 'knock it off with one of my instruments' doesn't count as a real procedure they could code for insurance. Also, you should sue for the stretching your sack to your knees. Did they tape this 'surgery'?

Why? You want to watch it or something you sicko?I mean, who wants to watch a doctor use his stethoscope to play whack-a-mole with kutta's testes before stretching his ballsac out so that it hangs out the bottom of his jorts like pockets.

No. At least not for the reasons you describe.I want to see if as soon as they put the gas on his face and ask him to countdown from 100 things go nuts. From Kutta's description I half expect that the doctor and other parties slapped on their Juggalo uniforms and did what Juggalo's do. Was there any Faygo seen before or after this 'procedure'.Oh hey, you have a hernia, let me get my hammer doesn't sound like a reputable practice. I guess it worked though.

You should look into getting the "keyhole" type of surgery (where they make a tiny incision near your belly button). It has a much lower risk for permanent nerve damage.

I had one of these back in 84, and then another about 6 years ago (other side). Had surgery on both. Dont really remember the first one, but the most recent one wasn't bad (mesh procedure). Had to stay off my feet for about a week other than slow painful trips to the bathroom. After that I could get around ok with mild pain that pills took care of. Was back at work after about 3 weeks, on light duty for another week or so.Coughing or sneezing the 6-7 days after surgery was the worst.Just take it easy afterward, you can't rush the recovery, and you should get some good pain meds. Good luck!

My buddy had the procedure done recently and said he found out there's two different procedures available. The mesh procedure is the old method and has a fairly high complication rate. The other procedure has a much lower complication rate but a whole lot less doctors perform it.

Laparoscopic surgeryHad it done for a double hernia in my mid twenties.....and stopped benching heavy weight ever since!

getting this done in a couple of weeks. double inguinal hernia, with right side far worse off than the left. surgeon says that the procedure is done so well now that it has a really, really low (less than 5%) rate of reoccurence. i'm expecting to be doped up pretty well but mobile shortly. he says my age (43) puts my recovery in a good light.

any insight from those who have done it?

Had the Gortex Mesh done 15 years ago and still holding strong. If I remember down time back to work 3-4 days, 3-4 weeks normal and 6 weeks back to the gym full bore. I'm sure things are way more advanced these days.

Its not a big deal. I had it done outpatient several years ago and the worst part was having a catheter. They recovery isn't bad. It sucks when you sneeze though.

I will be traveling to DC (Rockville, MD) April 9-11 for umbilical hernia surgery. I'm hoping to feel well enough to get to The Smithsonian on the day after and get some photo ops of cherry blossoms. Hoping this colder weather doesn't mess up the blossoms.

What they might not have told you is that you will have swelling inside making it difficult to pee. It was the worst part, feeling like I was about to explode and stand there for 5 min just for 1 drop to come out. I was back at work in less than a week. Will Ferrell can describe the look of you area afterwards better than I. Plumbs

I'm not very good at telling stories in print but irl this was pretty funny. I had never had surgery but apparently I am someone who gets very sick from anesthesia. I am 44 but still in pretty good shape, but a far cry from great shape. So after my surgery I am so nauseous and out of it that I don't care what I say or do. They start wheeling me to the bathroom to try and pee and throw up, when I see some young guy with no shirt on, the guy was built good so I already hate him, but then I hear the nurse talking about how good he is recovering and the guy is sitting up smiling without a care in the world, he's talking to the nurses and cracking jokes. He looks like the photogenic runner dude only the post-surgery version so now I really hate him. I'm sitting in my wheelchair slumped over to one side ### hanging out trying not to hurl, and this guy spots me and smiles at me sympathetically. I slowly raise my hand up, I'm so weak I can barely lift it, and flip this guy the bird. My wife pushes my hand down and scolds me and I do into some slobbering tirade about how there is no way that guy just had surgery. Guy laughs a little as I am sure I look totally pathetic and goes back to talking with the nurses.

I know...cool story bro.

I think that might be pushing it unless you are in a wheelchair. You can walk, but its like you would walk if you sharted. Slow & stiff.

Your balls will hurt and turn black. They will heal eventually it is just all of the drainage collects in there and coagulates.

Had double hernia repair surgery this morning. Sitting in my bed now like someone kicked me in the groin and it won't go away. Taking some narcotics but it still hurts like a #####. I couldn't even make it to the bathroom and had the wife bring me a garbage can instead. Took me about 30 minutes to get from the car, up my stairs and into bed. I did get a 2 hour nap in but wishing I hadn't woken up at this point.

Somebody make this stop....

I had hernia surgery above my navel a few years ago. wasn't too bad, but it was kinda hard to squeeze out turds for about a week after.

I didn't have a ballsac hernia though. mine was my stomach.

I had one umbilical and one inguinal. It's mainly the inguinal area that is giving me issues right now. Can't wait for a day it two to pass so I can at least sit up without assistance.

I'm going to a surgeon to get "checked out" next week.

Plan on saying... "nahhh. I'm good"

Do you feel like you could walk around the Smithsonian museum?

Painkillers!

I've been keeping a frozen bag of peas on the area like after a vasectomy. Not sure it that's helping, or if its the Vicodin, or if I'm just getting used to the pain, but I made it to the bathroom on my own and I've been laying in bed fairly comfortably for the last couple hours.

Wife of a friend said that her hernia surgery hurt worse than her c-section. My brother had told me it wasn't bad at all as long as he kept ice on it. I guess it can go either wy.

Read my post above. It will make you feel a little better. I can give you more details if you want.

quick update...

i had the double hernia surgery yesterday. i slept most of the day and into the night afterwards. i was able to move some - mostly shuffling around my place - and take a leak. i haven't needed the pain meds too badly. i'm content to work from my bed, propped up with pillows.

I was popping a pain pill every 4 hours for the first 24. they made me feel sick when I had to get up so I stopped and didn't notice that much difference anyway. the real downside to those was it took me 3 days to poop and that was causing more pain than anything else.

one week later and I'm starting to walk fully upright finally.

How long are you in the hospital?

Most of these are outpatient now.

I have been mindful of the pain to this point. i'm trying to avoid the pills as they are supposed to keep a fella backed up. i have yet to drop a loaf and i'm not sure whether to look forward to it as a blessed event at this point.

i had a crummy night sleeping but i suspect it was due to the irregular sleep/rest thing coming out of surgery. it just was hard to be comfortable sleeping for stretches of time. but my energy is good and i'm feeling spry despite everything.

Correct. I was in surgery by 11a and out the door by like 2p headed home.

updating here.

still very sore but able to move around reasonably well. i'm trying to rest as much as i can but sleep is tricky. i get sore laying on my back too long. i had my gf pick me up some prune juice as it has been since Monday or so since i took a dump.

today's update.

surgery was 8 days ago and i feel much, much better. i had good energy from, say, friday on. i was taking the pain meds at around the end of the night to help me sleep but still waking up around 430a sore.

bodily functions are back to normal too. i'm still careful about lifting things but i don't think anyone would notice beyond that.

fooled around with the gf the other day and it was mostly successful. sore as hell - the expected bruising may have gotten worse - but kind of worth it. my junk itself is kind of oddly swollen on one side, which i can't say for sure is trauma from the sex or the surgery. regardless, i am going to try to lay off the sex for a week and see.

the best part? i haven't felt the symptoms of the hernia since the surgery and that's really nice.

How bad were the symptoms before?

I'm going under the knife tomorrow. Doc gave me a Percocet scrip when I saw him earlier. I figured I better try a couple out tonight so I can make sure they will work.
