"Right now dealing with injuries is all that coach John Fox is worrying about. On Sunday, Fox will be without middle linebacker Dan Morgan (concussion) and perhaps without Pro Bowl wide receiver Steve Smith, who missed the season opener last week with a strained left hamstring."

For the good of his future, and his family, he needs to retire from football. This is his fifth concussion, and if he gets any more, he will be a babbling idiot the rest of his life. Someone needs to tell the Panthers to make him retire.

As I've stated since last year, the Cats signed the wrong guy. Spoon should be playing in Charlotte and Morgan should be stealing money from another team. Hell, the guy got hurt tackling a QB...that's the ultimate #### move.

Geez guys, he can't help it when he gets concussed and when he doesn't. He's one of the best run stuffing MLB the league has scene in a long time, but all those collisions on the field throughout his football life have taken a toll. Sometimes that's just how it goes.

what does this do for thomas davis? does the two olb spots stay the same and seward moves into the middle or what?

:goodposting: :goodposting: :goodposting: :goodposting: Mr. Witherspoon was and still is an excellent LBer. To let him go was beyond me. I say now we put Draft in a MLB NOT SEWARD. I just don't understand why Draft isn't used more. When he is in he is one fine playa!

If you've drafted Morgan within the last year, you are not a Shark.
Why would that be? In my book he is one of the better LBs to have. When he plays he is a stud. When he is hurt he is listed as Out, so you can plug in another guy from your roster. So long as you don't grab him early in the draft, he is much better than a questionable guy that you don't know if he will play or not play that week, and could get stuck starting or not starting that type of player the wrong time many weeks in a row...

THE PACKERS DRAFTED JAMAL REYNOLDS INSTEAD...THAT'S WHY!?!   The only thing keeping Jamal Reynolds from being the worst draft pick in team history is passing on multiple Hall Of Famers to select Tony Mandarich.

Problem is that he only plays part of the game. How do know which game he's going to get concussed?

Wow it hurt watching both McCree and Spoon make plays this week while Morgan was tackling Dunn from behind.

Just as with any player, if they get hurt in a game you lose out on some points that game depending on when it happens. Not much you can do for that. But for the next week, Morgan would be Out and the other guy could be questionable. So it is clear cut on replacing Morgan than trying to figure out how injured a different guy is.

The Packers did draft the second coming of Dan Morgan though.

How will Mr. Three Solo Tackles do this week?

Dan Morgan and AJ Hawk are poster boys for HGH.

What a difference a year makes:

No Morgan... No Witherspoon... No Steve Smith... = NO CHANCE FOR THE PANTHERS TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS

Not that is an interesting take that reminds me of those FBG player spotlights....
Positives

At 6’2”, 245 pounds, Morgan has ideal size for the middle linebacker position and the pursuit speed and range of many outside linebackers. He also excels in zone coverage, man coverage on tight ends, and can get to the quarterback when blitzing. He gets concussed often and is usually listed as out making your difficult lineup decisions disappear.

Negatives

Not many, fortunately for his fantasy owners, an injured Morgan is the norm. He has yet to play more than 13 games in a season and has averaged only 11 per year. He has had knee and ankle injuries, a shoulder injury that landed him on IR for eight games in 2002, and the ever present concussion issue that seems to rob Morgan of countless series every season.

Outlook

Will be on the injury report by week two.

Over react to one game much? I seem to recall both the Bears and Panthers losing game one last year.

Didn't Reynolds attend FSU? :D I saw Morgan down here at Miami and he was an animal. The guy was a great player and I thought a great pick for Carolina, so this injury thing surprises me. I saw the guy taken off the field against FSU and had IVs placed in his arm because he was dehydrated. Two plays later, after FSU made huge gains, he ripped them right out of his arm, ran onto the field and shoved the sub right back onto the sidelines. Think he vomited right in the opposing center's face, but Morgan proceeded to play one of the greatest games I've ever seen. Players can rebound from many types of injuries, but concussions? I wish him well.
