So glad you are mostly good as your wife and niece.
First... yes, lawyer up.
Second, State Farm and Allstate are known to be the two biggest "problem" insurers. Being in my industry I talk a lot to insurance agents and being in a peripheral industry have had a ton of feedback from both experts as well as your normal people plus in my own experience and the wrecker of my truck saying the same thing. Glad they are good so far but it doesn’t sound like you have got into money discussion. If the other guy is under insured you are going to need to lean on your insurance. Get lawyer that can help guide you through it all and protect your interests.

On Tuesday morning I’m meeting with a name partner of a smaller firm that specializes in this and has a great reputation / review online. I’ll definitely be signing up with someone (likely them) next week.
Still waiting on hear back from State Farm on my request to adjust their first offer on my Telluride upward due to:
- loss of 10/100k powertrain warranty (when buying used, their comps - found multiple quotes for 10/100k add ons from company recommended by my service manager - $2200-3500 asking low number) ,
- loss of finance rebate I got last time ($1500)
We’ll see if they budge. Those are legitimate adjustments to ensure apples to apples replacement.
First offer was 54k. I paid 53k for mine with 4k miles (new program car) so
Just signed on for a new Telluride from a dealer down in ATL that cas a couple things my didn’t (roof rack and tow hitch), and only has 15 miles for 55k out the door.
Depending on what SF does I’m looking at coming out -1k to +3k on the exchange. We shall see how it goes.
