Holt says his knee is 70% (1 Viewer)

relax guys..i think that was shtick.

really would like to hear more. Holt at 70% is still a beast..guess we'll just wait to see if/how much he plays in preseason.

If he is saying his knee is 70% , it will be scary to see when he says he's 100%. He's been full participating in training camp, and looking good....check out realramsfans.com for more...

also, Holt is 31.... Born: Jun 5, 1976

I had Holt ranked as my #1 WR last year. It looked good early but didn't pan out though he was no bust.

I think he's had a troublesome knee for a few years now. His y/c have declined at least 3 years in a row. That worries me. I give him a yellow flag for this year, though the #1 WR in a Scott Linehan offense gets more passes (esp ITRZ) than just about anyone.

I guess it's all about context.

For now, Holt estimates his knee is about 70 percent, but that seems to be a bit on the conservative side. He has looked like his usual self when given the opportunity and has continued to build strength. The biggest part of the rehabilitation is over for now and the idea of playing on completely healthy knees for the first time since 2005 has him excited.

“It feels good to actually get it nipped in the bud,” Holt said. “It’s kind of like starting from scratch again. It’s cool. I don’t mind the work of rehabilitation and getting stronger and allowing me to be able to perform at the level I would like to perform at. I am excited about getting it over with and getting it done and just continuing to keep it strong and play well.”

As usual, Holt is setting his individual goals in just about the same places. He’d like to return to 1,300 yards receiving with 90 or more receptions. But, there is one tweak in the goal set in the form of touchdown catches. Usually, Holt aims for 10 or more touchdown catches, but he says he is shooting for 12 to 15 this season.

More than likely, Holt will battle the knee soreness for the rest of camp, but he is hoping that the pain will subside and he can return to being the play maker he has always been.

“I still have some areas in there that are a little sore, a little tender, but that’s expected,” Holt said. “I am going to pace myself through training camp and try to get myself in the best possible position so once the regular season started I would be feeling good and ready to go. I feel a lot better than what I did last year at the end of the season is concerned, I feel totally different. If I can stay healthy and stay the course and stay positive I think it will be a good season for Holt again.”
Besides, he's talking about himself in the third person, that's the sure sign of a huge season ahead. :bag:

Great info, thanks. In an auction league, I had cash left over for one WR1 with Harrison, TO, Fitz, Holt, and Evans available. Decided to go with Holt despite the knee and the reduced production. Basically betting that (1) he would be better after the surgery and (2) like other WRs with similar production, he could produce strongly into his mid-30s.

This article makes me feel both more confident and less confident about that decision. Definitely a tough decision for those that still have drafts/auction coming up.

so glad you quoted the article JaxBill for some context. Truth is i saw it as a nugget on USAtodays site..and couldnt get to the actual article from work. Didnt mean to mislead anyone. Sounds like he's moving pretty well and I definitely like any WR that wants to "improve" on 10 TDs from a year ago.

I don't buy it. Holt is going to have a letdown season...if you look at last years numbers, a few things stand out:9 games without a TD.nearly ALL of his 100 yard/multi TD games came against NFC west foes..those defenses are improving, albeit slowly..SF's defense is going to be much better, Az is improving , and so is Seattle's...in those 9 scoreless games he had last season, most were like 6-70 games..thats not a good sign of things to come. I think he's slipping ( significantly), and his stats will take a beating this season..

Saw this tidbit on one of my favorite FF players and thought it was worthy of a thread. Apologize in advance if this is considered old news. I was surprised to learn he's 31 this year.

Especially since he was only 27 last year.
Using what calendar?Date of Birth: June 5, 1976 (1976-06-05) (age 31)
It was a joke. He was "surprised to learn he's 31", so I was attempting a funny how he became 31 out of nowhere. Guess it didn't come out right. My bad.

A reason for hope is that, IIRC, he set career highs for targets. Even with the new additions, I think he can maintain a very high level of targets because I don't think SJax will get the same #. Now, the doubters will be right if his catch rate continues to drop

6-70 carried out to a 16 game season gives Holt a total of 96-1120 which means he is around WR20 with ZERO touchdowns on the year... I'm sorry but I just don't see any way to discredit Holt going into this season. He is once again a lock for at the very least Top 10 #s.

Last year over the 2nd half of the season Greg Olson had more of a say in the play calling. The result of that was less passing to WR's and lots of SJAX. Over the 2nd half of the season SJAX led the league in fantasy points.

Will this continue this year? Your guess is as good as mine, I hope so as I have the #2 pick in my draft this year. If it does continue I would assume SJAX value goes up and Holts goes down as he was mediocre at best over the 2nd half last year, fantasy wise.

While I think that the offense has shifted to Steven Jackson as the focal point it's important to note that Orlando Pace was injured and missed the last half of the season. Because of that the Rams couldn't go deep as much as they would have liked so Bulger mostly only had time to dump the ball off to SJax. Hence the shift in receiving stats. Assuming Pace returns to full health things should go back to normal levels.
