How Big is Infinity? (1 Viewer)

I'm not into advanced math so I have trouble with the first assumption that S1=1/2. It's not like that sum approaches 0.5 as you go to infinity, the sum is always either 1 or 0.

It depends on how much dark matter you think there is in the universe - if there's enough dark matter to cause a gravitational collapse one day, then there is no such thing as infinity.

Now what exists outside the universe depends on your views on nihilism and theism. So state your assumptions.

What are the odds that Eminence starts claiming to get "Infinite amounts of poon" after reading this thread?

When people say that fossil fuels are finite, but wind energy is not finite, do they really understand what infinity is?

Disagree because in the first sum, he simply averaged the two possible outcomes and took the average as the answer. That average will never be the answer--the answer will either be 0 or 1; not 0.5.

For that reason, his proof is flawed and I am out.

I don't need a math degree to know that this doesn't make sense and is wrong. It's simply a way for the math nerds to justify an incorrect position.

The sum is always 0 or 1; it's never 0.5.

The sum is never 0 or 1, so how can either of those be the right answer?

The sum of a finite series of alternating 1s and -1s can be either 0 or 1, depending on how many terms are in the series. But this thread isn't about finite series of integers.

The sum of an infinite series of alternating 1s and -1s isn't either 0 or 1.

The average human being has one boob and one ball. Only there isn't any such thing; or at least, outside a freak show.

Small enough to fit inside a pocket but larger than the

moment this makes sense

what what?

Infinity is the moment of recollection the reminds the soul of it's source.
And the prying attempt of the mind to unlatch that knowledge from our being.
A battle that rages over vastness of truth not consumed by learned minds.
And a walk in the eternal never queried by our kind.
what what?

All humans are not either 2 boobed or 2 balled. Hermaphrodites throw the average off.
