How do Dez and Demaryius compare to the likes of Green, Jones, Baldwin etc. How would you rank the top 6-7 Wrs using this years class and next?

You're not giving Floyd much respect here. For me from this listFor me (as of right now...the college kids have a long way to go)How do Dez and Demaryius compare to the likes of Green, Jones, Baldwin etc. How would you rank the top 6-7 Wrs using this years class and next?

D Thomas
This one's my list except I put Thomas at the bottom. But everyone else stays the same. Floyd is a beast. He not only deserves to be in the convo, but should be leading it with these college kids. You're not giving Floyd much respect here. Not a lack of respect, I rate Jones. Baldwin and Floyd virtually equal (my order for these 3 will change throughout the year)..on the other hand. Maybe, but then again, I've always seemed to like him more than most. He's a super talented wide receiver with a rare combo of size and seed. Wait until he refines his route running and his foot injury eases up and we'll see that.Interestingly enough, your list/ranking of the 2011 WRs seems to match up identically with Scott Wright's.DansRams said:Not a lack of respect, I rate Jones. You would really take 2 and maybe 3 of these guys over Dez?jurb26 said:GreenFloydBryantBaldwinJones *could jump up to #2 on the list if he plays to potential this year*Thomas
I too like Williams, but it's pretty hard for me to believe that even a Cardinal Homer can believe this. I know some fantasy owners can have a what have you done for me lately approach, but too many peeps in this thread are being very short sited regarding D. Thomas. What, his talent just disappeared because he has an injury. I don't believe that Denver was the only team that had Thomas above Bryant on their draft board. When this kid gets healthy, he's going to explode. It's not just luck to get over 25 yard per reception, like he did last year. That was with every defense he faced knowing that if G.T. threw the ball, it was going in Thomas' direction. As Patoons already stated: When Thomas refines his route running, WATCH OUT.....For me:ThomasBryantAJ GreenBaldwinGreenI'd put Stephen Williams over Thomas too.Max Hall isn't the only UDFA gem Arizona got.
2011 should be a great WR draft class, no doubt...but as of right now, I'd take Dez over any of them.
I thought I was the only one. I like all of them because they are really tall dudes with what seems to be good speed. I just wonder how good are their pure WR skills: hands, consistent seperation, route running, etc. versus just being bigger, stronger, faster than the competition. I will you more technical savvy types break that stuff down, but I missing all of them as the top 5-10 (nfl) overall can't miss guys.I would rank Bryant a strong #1 with Thomas a weak #2. I don't get the "can't-miss" vibe from any of the guys in the 2011 class. That's not to say none of them will become good NFL players. 1-2 of them probably will. But I can't point to anyone in that Michael Floyd/AJ Green/Julio Jones/Jon Baldwin group and definitively say that he's a lock for NFL success like I could with Crabtree and Dez.
I don't think it's necessarily intangibles that they lack. I just don't think any of them has a combination of physical tools/football skills that makes him a stone cold lock. Green has good height and hands. I think he definitely fits the bill from a playmaking/instincts/intangibles standpoint. He's awfully thin though and I wonder if he has enough speed to compensate for his lack of power. There aren't many tall guys excelling in the NFL who don't have great speed and/or great power. He's kind of an oddity as a tall finesse WR. Those guys are usually 5'11"-6'1". I've tried to think of a comp player for Green and Sidney Rice is the best that I can come up with. Neither has great strength or speed, but both excel because they're athletic with brilliant ball skills to make difficult catches look routine. I'm curious to see what kind of times Green will run in his workouts. Maybe he has better speed than I think. Floyd is more along the lines of the typical "big" WR that we've seen in recent years. Sort of a Crabtree/Fitz/VJax type whose size, strength, and hands offset his average speed. He's listed at 6'3" 227. If he's really that big then you have to like his chances of success given his all-around strengths. He would probably be my first choice among this group if I were forced to draft today. Baldwin is similar to Floyd. Maybe not quite as mobile. Julio is a wild card for me. I've always felt that he was overhyped and I'm not quite sure where he fits in at the NFL level. People describe him as another TO, but TO is a lot bigger and stronger. Julio's listed weight is kind of low for his height and yet he doesn't seem to have the mobility or route running of a typical successful thin WR. If he's not going to beat people with strength and he's not going to beat people with speed and route running, how exactly is he supposed to get open? In the end, I might be selling his athleticism short. He looks like one of those guys who could test off the charts in workouts. I'm still wary. l rank him at the bottom of this top 4 at this point in time. Even though he doesn't resemble Roy Williams physically, their profiles are similar (big time HS recruits with atypical bodies who yield inconsistent results on the field, but trick people with occasional flashes of brilliance). I don't have a great handle on this crew because I didn't watch a lot of their games last season. I don't make a point of watching specific prospects until they're draft-eligible. Now that this crew is on deck, I'll be sure to look at them more thoroughly. Right now I don't think any of them are on the Dez/Crabtree level. A few months down the line I might be singing a different tune.I thought I was the only one. I like all of them because they are really tall dudes with what seems to be good speed.
