How do you feel about Cutler now? (current info on pg 46) (1 Viewer)

josh mccown - 237 total yds, 70% comp, 10 ypa, 1 td to 0 int

cutler+n - 28 total yds, 37% comp, 3.5 ypa, 0 td to 1 int

same game

ok, fair points by some of you guys on the game participation --- I can admit when I'm busted.

cutler+n only had 8 attempts to 20 for the well traveled mccown

I'll extrapolate those 8 out to 20 by multiplying cutler+n's stats by 2.5 to even it up

josh mccown - 20 att for 237 total yds, 70% comp, 10 ypa, 1 td to 0 int

cutler+n - 20 att for 70 total yds, 37% comp, 3.5 ypa, 0 td to 2.5 int

Anyone have any updates on prognosis/ETA for Cutler's return?
Speculation at this point but nothing but good things coming out right. Take that for what it's worth. I'm guessing a couple weeks, which is more than enough time before the end of the fantasy season. He has been throwing some passes in practice. Hold

I still think Cutler must have the one of the strongest arms in the NFL.
Definitely. Now that Jamarcus Russell is out of the league, I think Cutler's claim to the title of NFL's strongest arm is pretty solid. Some people might say Flacco, but I don't see it.

Rotoworld:

According to ESPN Chicago, there has been an "increased sense of optimism" that Jay Cutler (groin) can beat his original four-week timetable.
Cutler went down in Week 7 and the Bears said he'd miss at least four weeks. He's already been ruled out for Monday night's game at Green Bay, but it looks like the Week 10 home game against the Lions is a possibility. There's certainly some stash appeal here considering how well Cutler was playing prior to the injury and the Bears' schedule in Weeks 12-16: at STL, at MIN, vs. DAL, at CLE, at PHL.

I've heard Vick in the conversation. I remember a few years ago he just flicked it 60+ yards in the air to Jackson for a TD. I seem to remember him throwing it 70+ yards in a practice video a while back, as well. Not sure if he can still get it going like that.

In college Cutler completed a 71-yard pass to Brandon Smith in a game against Rutgers (2004 I believe). He also completed a 59-yard pass to Johny Knox a few years ago.

Definitely up there.

Reposted to add link.

60+ yards in the air pass

Couldn't find the practice vid (other than that fake Powerade one)

On the JC show with Waddle & Silvy a few weeks ago, Cutler said in Denver they had a 'who could throw could throw it the farthest' contest at practice one day. IIRC, Culter threw it 75 yards + and the next longest throw was by Brandon Marshall, who threw it 70 yards.

Cutler said he could still throw it 75 yards in a game if he had to.

Whoa!

Jay Cutler plans to return Week 10 and, barring no setback, start vs Lions on Sunday, per team source.

Yeah do that.....LOL
KAL is such a decent poster in the IDP forum, but such a f#$%ing tool in here. Which means I have to click the 'view anyway' link on his stuff over there.

Really wish he'd stop being such a ######## - right up there with Sweeney, Scientist and Sho Nuff in here.

As a fellow IDPer I'd like to support Larry. I'm very happy he posts in the IDP section and then hounds you non-IDPers over here.

And for the record, he is not in the same universe as ITS. Seriously.

Oops!

Despite a Monday report that Jay Cutler plans to play versus the Detroit Lions, the Chicago Bears quarterback was noncommittal Tuesday about his chances of suiting up in Week 10."I don't think we can say I'll be out there for Detroit," Cutler said on ESPN 1000's "Waddle and Silvy" show.
Shocking.

Jay Cutler (groin) would have been listed as "limited" if the Bears practiced Wednesday.
The Bears are on a short week, so Cutler will test out his groin on Thursday. "I don't know where he's at really," coach Marc Trestman said. "He's been running around, working out with the trainers." Cutler himself already admitted that Josh McCown's excellent play may cause him to play it safe Sunday. We'll know more after the Bears get a look at his progress on the field.

Rotoworld:

Jay Cutler was removed from Sunday's Week 10 game against the Lions late in the fourth quarter with an ankle injury.
Cutler looked good in the first half, completing 12-of-18 passes while showing no signs of the groin injury he suffered in Week 7. The second half was a different story. Cutler was noticeably hobbling around and hopping after throws to keep weight off his groin. We didn't notice Cutler suffer any sort of ankle injury, but it's fair to wonder if it's the result of him trying to be too careful and taking a misstep at some point. Josh McCown is in the game under center. Cutler completed 21-of-40 passes for 250 yards, one touchdown, and one interception before leaving. The Bears are calling his return questionable.

Too bad they didn't remove him before he threw that pick that cost them the game

Classic cutler

IMO this was all on Trestman. The way Cutler was hobbling around he should not have been in the game. But most players are going to be reluctant to pull themselves from the game. That was the coach's job. Trestman failed, and it may have cost the Bears a chance to go to the playoffs. If McCown plays the fourth quarter the Bears win that game.

I don't disagree. But Cutler led the Bears down the field and threw a strike to Jeffery in the end zone that was dropped. Toss in going for it on 4th down in the first half and Cutler would have led the Bears to the win.

Culter is a freaking gamer. I don't know why anyone would say something negative about the guy. He comes back early from a groin injury and plays his heart out. Cmon now.

If there was a year to pick up Cutler, it's this year. He's got weapons, an offensive line, and a coach who has coached some of the great QBs of this era. Cutler is emerging as a top QB, something most people thought he was incapable of, due to his past failures. If he continues along his current path, he will become a top 10 guy, easily. He's got the talent. Now he has the pieces around him to succeed.
I'm not so sure his line is all that much better.

it's somewhat better, but I think the biggest difference is simply the coaching and playcalling.

but, I agree with the larger point -- I actually drafted him in one league as my 2nd qb, and I hate him.
The OL is infinitely better, but good coaching and playcalling is drastically better as well.
from profootballfocus

Last week, when asked to compare the Bears’ offensive line this season versus last season, Brandon Marshall boldly stated, “There is no comparison”. Unfortunately, the stats, and a dinged-up quarterback, say differently. In Sunday’s game, the Bears’ quarterbacks were pressured on 27 of 51 dropbacks and on those they went 10-25 for 110 yards. Along with two sacks, the Bears’ quarterbacks were hit on nine separate occasions. Kyle Long (+0.5) was the only offensive lineman to grade positively while Matt Slauson (-4.5) allowed more pressures on Sunday than he had in the last four games combined. The Bears may have figured out their sack problem, but they are on pace for 15 more hits and 84 more hurries than in 2012

Speaking for the first time since Week 10, Jay Cutler implied his ankle injury is worse than has been reported and there are "worrisome ligament issues."
"The ankle is the problem. The groin is going to be fine," Cutler said. "If I just had a normal high-ankle sprain, I wouldn't be in a cast. I'm searching for any doctor in the country that will say, 'Hey, you can play on this,' but we haven't found him yet. There’s a couple ligaments that we’re a little bit worried about that’s different than a normal high-ankle sprain." Cutler initially targeted a Week 13 return against the Vikings, "but now I really don't know."

Rotoworld:

Jay Cutler is no longer wearing a hard cast on his sprained left ankle.

Cutler is now just wearing a very small brace underneath his tennis shoes as goes through the rehab process. "He's got the sprain, but there's stability there, enough stability that they could take it off," Marc Trestman said. The coach would not say this increases Cutler's chances of returning for Week 13, instead sticking with the week-to-week timetable. He'll be reevaluated on Monday. With matchups against the Cowboys in Week 14 and Eagles in Week 16, Cutler is a fantasy hold where possible.

Odd thing for Cutler, with his pending free agency coming up, is he has gotten better as a quarterback - he tends to make less of those bone-headed throws that he used to often make - but he seemingly cannot stay healthy for a whole 16 games, and a quarterback who cannot stay on the field is not a valuable one. This is the 4th straight year he has failed to play all 16 games.

The only QBs I recall being franchised were Brees, Vick, and Manning, who all signed huge contracts before the next season began. And Cassell, who was tagged and traded.

Rotoworld:

Jay Cutler (high-ankle sprain) is "not expected" to return for Sunday's game against the Vikings.

Coach Marc Trestman also insisted Monday that Cutler isn't dealing with anything more than a high-ankle sprain despite speculation to the contrary. "I'm totally confident he'll play again this season," Trestman said. The Bears are in capable hands with Josh McCown — who has a strong matchup in Minnesota — but still need Cutler back to make a legitimate push for the division. McCown's lack of a deep ball has kept the Bears' offense station-to-station, even if it's been effectively station-to-station. Cutler should have a chance at suiting up for Week 14.

This sounds funny, I think he is done for the year. Detroit can keep losing and still run away with the division crown with the QB situation in that division. McCown and Flynn/Tolzien aint leading these teams anywhere.

Everything rotoworld writes sounds funny. Jene bramel has said its likely a 4-5 week absences or cutler, which puts him back by week 14 or 15.

The Beas struggles have more to do with the awful defense than cutlers absence. But getting cutler back would be a boost for sure.

With Schwartz as head coach, the lions aren't running away from anyone.

bears -

@MIN DAL @CLE @PHI GB

det

GB @PHI BAL NYG @MIN

gb

@DET ATL @DAL PIT @CHI

gb + chi maybe get their qb back 2 or 3 games in

my guess -- green = win, red = loss

sry, minny -- nobody cares about you
