How do you use your "Flex" position? (1 Viewer)

This is the first year I am in a ppr league; we get 1/2 ppr for all positions. In non-ppr, going RB in the flex was typically a no brainer.

With the 1/2 ppr, I don't know if that is enough of difference to alter the RB option and go with a WR instead.

I know that it depends on the players involved. In my case, the flex will typically come down to RB's such as Bradshaw, Spiller and Portis, or WR's such as Nicks or Mike Williams (TB).

I'm not asking "WDIS for Week 1," but looking for how you guys approach this scenario throughout the season. Do you simply play the matchups week to week, or does the 1/2 ppr make you more inclined to start a WR in the flex? Or do you still like to use primarily an RB in that spot?

Thanks in advance guys!

Usually, unless the receiver is elite (Marshall, White, Wayne) you will want to go with a RB who starts for his team. In this case, go with Bradshaw.

Take the remaining guy you think will score the most regardles of position? Play upside versus downside depending on your opponent. Its different for every team and roster.

I've played in only PPR leagues. .5 PPR is not enough to merit blindly starting a WR in the Flex slot over a good RB. Like others have said it obviously depends on the matchup and players you are debating between. If it was a full PPR then a WR is usually the best move no matter what, but .5 PPR makes it negligible since a great game for a WR you would start in the Flex would be about 7 REC which is only 3.5 pts extra. In your situation I go Spiller or Bradshaw until Nicks and Williams prove themselves as every week starters. Both should catch some balls too so it's win win

You always start the glaring favorite. (Turner vs Pit > Spiller vs Mia)

From there you go to Position vs Defense. (Spiller vs Mia > Best vs Chi)

Then Reception vs TD. (Roddy White > Desean Jackson)

Then Yardage vs TD. (Wes Welker > Percy Harvin)

PPR is about consistency, but it depends on the roster that you draft.
