How does FA affect Big Mike Williams? (1 Viewer)

As a BMW owner in several leagues I am a little disappointed in the FA signing Seattle has gone with. Hass was not good last year but I'm afraid the QB situation got worse. I don't think Jackson is terrible QB but he does not make his teammates better. Now they signed Rice whitch will probably hurt him more than help take pressure. Deduct minimum 10 targets and lots of red zone calls.

I went out of my way and traded for BMW in my big pay dynasty league. I traded Adrian Peterson and Mike Thomas for Ray Rice and BMW. It's only .5 PPR. I hope I didn't get burned here but I coveted Rice and BMW.

So, discuss your take on BMW's value after today.

That was a terrible trade for you. I think his value takes a huge hit. He has the worst or 2nd worst QB situation (skins) in the league, and is now no longer the 1st option. I was really exited about him before this, but I don't think Tavaris Jackson's 2nd read will produce much.

I agree with every part of this and double down that you got hosed. BMW will likely put up Cotchery numbers the rest of his career. Once a turd, always a turd...

With Whitehurst, BMW will get plent of looks. Once the team falters and they decide to try out t-joke, BMW will become a zero. Rice will be close to a zero. Then in 2012 they will ####can t-joke and find a QB.

If they could get a QB in next years draft this could be a great team, for fantasy and real NFL. I like the new look O-line, with Okung, 2 rookies, and Gallery.

I value Ray Rice as equal to Peterson with the .5 PPR (or at least Im not losing my pants), but I don't know about Williams over Mike Thomas now. I am not a Thomas fan but I see Williams dropping below WR35-40 now.

BMW was a one-year wonder, the kind of player who is able to eek out modest stats on a terrible team but then fades into obscurity once the Grade A talent arrives.

:goodposting:I doubt BMW even starts the whole year, I bet he loses his job, makes no sense to have two big WRs with no one to stretch the field bet Golden Tate will overtake him.

TJax is going to help him. He also won't be double teamed w/ Rice on the other side. I think this helps him.

well as a BMW owner it is pretty disappointing to see Sydney Rice sign but again that will prolly only cut into his production for 6-8 games a yr... if he has a qb that throws it close he could still have some value

1) 2 big wides is exactly what Pete wants2) Rice stretches the field w/ the best of them

This is all a part of Pete's philosophy and what he has said he would do from day one. So it actually makes perfect sense.

I am not ready to say that Tavaris will help him. But this (no longer double teamed) will. I certainly am not in the one-hit wonder crowd.I see several scenarios. First of all, I think BMW himself will be a better player than he was last year. He has a year of competitive play under his belt - no question the rust is now off. Also, he seems determined to do it right this time as he has demostrated by staying in top-notch shape this off season.

[*]One of the qbs currently on the roster becomes this year's starter. In this case, I think BMW still has a very reasonable chance to put up numbers similar to last year. Perhaps the total catches drops, but since he will not see double coverage, I think his yardage will not and his tds will increase.

[*]Sidney Rice goes down (or isn't 100% healthy from his hip injury). I see BMW matching last year's per game numbers as his targets will increase to what they were.

[*]The pipe dream....Seattle brings in Orton (or perhaps Kolb). I could see BMW per game numbers increasing over last year (starting 3 or 4 games into the season).

For me the final answer is that I see BMS as having a legitimate chance of having a floor and (sigh) a ceiling very similiar to last year.

Will the team score more?

Will their be more mouths to feed?

Will Rice be open vs BMWs not appearing open but will have a good chance at winning the battle if thrown open?

The QB is the key.

Are you kidding me? Go to a seahawks board and I doubt you'll find one person that agrees tate could conceivably best out bmw for starter this year. Tate had trouble even running the correctroutes last year. Your post is not very thought out.I like the kid but as a seahawks fan who is very knowledgeable about the team, i don't see tate as getting past #4 on the depth chart.

Golden tate? Really?

Man, that ship sailed out of the harbor before it arrived. That is a BUST pick. I would rather have Ben Obomanu as a flex player than Tate.

Overall, I see it as bleak fro BMW and about as bad a scenario as I can imagine for Rice's FF vitality.

the only thing I really like in this situaiton from a fantasy standpoint is Lynch. I know its not what grabs headlines but the Hawks have done an ADMIRABLE job of revamping that o-line. I suspect this is a team that will look to run a lot this year.

+1Lynch is a buy candidate for me now.

BMW has committed himself to being in great shape and is said to have worked out 5 hours a day in the offseason, so I don't think he will regress back to his draft bust obscurity again.

The Seattle offense was 23rd in points scored and 24th in offensive snaps. The addition of a better o-line, a full season with Lynch, Sidney Rice, and Zach Miller will improve upon Seattle's prior year numbers. The addition of Zach Miller and Sidney Rice may mean BMW has less of the pie, but the pie should be bigger since they will have a better offense (more yards and TDs).

I think the Seahawks will be more top heavy at WR in the stat column this year. You won't see receptions spread out to WRs like Deon Butler, Stokley or Obomanu as much, and instead it being more concentrated to Rice, BMW and Miller. I believe the Seahawks will come out with a lot of 2 TE, 2 WR sets (Rice, BMW, Z.Miller and Carlson), so they can be flexible in either pounding the ball or throwing it.

What kind of numbers did you expect from Williams before? I'd be surprised if anyone expected him to put up WR1 numbers. He's someone that you should draft as your #3 or #4 WR, with hopes that he might put up WR2 numbers. That's still a realistic scenario. You definitely gave up more ON PAPER for your trade than you got back, but that's just the ADP consensus. It really all comes down to your own projections for those guys. If you think Ray Rice is the #1 back this year, you got a good deal no matter what happens with the WRs. Neither one should be considered a WR1 or 2 going to into the season anyway. Both are borderline fantasy starters, or sleepers if you prefer.

I valued him as a WR3. Actually, my early projections slotted him at WR 28. I didn't have Thomas in my top 50. I coveted Rice and feel that in a PPR league Rice and AP are pretty even. I was taking a chance in that thinking so I wanted the clear win in the WR department and I thought I had it. Now it's not clear at all and I'd probably reverse the trade if I could. It's really close though so I won't sweat it. I see Rice having a big year either way.

I jumped on the BMW hype train last year and hold him in a few dynasty leagues. If you can get him as your flex or bye week filler, he will have some really productive weeks and maybe a few stinkers.
