How does my team look? (1 Viewer)

12 team, 5x5 h2h league. Start: C/1b/2b/3b/ss/3of/dh/5SP/4RP. My strategy is to punt saves for the entire year, so I already know I'm gonna likely lose that category every week.....and went with strong middle relieves that I got very late I'll bold the keepers and put the round drafted (start with round 9 b/c of 8 keepers per team).

C - Towles (14)

1B - Haffner

2B - Polanco (13), Theriot (23)

SS - M. Young (9), Theriot (23)

3B - Fields (17)

OF - Lee, Pence, Bay, Francour (10), Ellsbury (12), Diaz (21), ####udome (16), Damon (15)

SP - Oswalt, Young, Sheets, Pedro, Cain (11), Maddux (22)

RP - Duchscher (18), Broxton (19), Heilmen (24), Neshek (20), Springer (25), Gordon (26)

Minor Leaguers - Buchhoz, Price, Wood

IR - Garciaperra, Scot Shields, Capuano

I know I have a lot of outfielders, but the value there was great IMO.....and all I need is one of Ellsbury, Diaz or ####udome to break out and Ill hae some reat offense. I think 3B is my weak spot, but there are some decent backups left.....and I can use an OF as trade bait

My only comment is I think you need a better idea of draft strategy before drafting. Sorry if it sounds harsh....but,

12 team league only requiring 3 OF's and 1 utility. You keep 3 OF's, which I don't have so much of a problem with, but then you draft Francour, Ellsbury, Damon ( ), ####udome with 4 of your first 6 picks????

If it was a start 5 OF I would be okay with this, but I think this is pretty awful strategy when your infield relies on the likes of Polanco, Theriot, Towles and Fields. I understand it's a keeper league, so I'll assume the big guns were all kept, but those four guys I just mentioned are at or near free agent territory in a 12-14 man league. I probably would have stopped drafting OF's after grabbing Francouer at 10, and focused on other positions that needed attention.

I've never been a big proponent of punting any category, but I can accept the fact that owners have used this strategy in the past and on occasion it's worked out. But your starters are not that superior in 2008. 2001, well, now we're talking.

It's too early in the season to start to panic, but hope that Bay or Francouer start off very hot and you can package these guys up and lock in a stud 2B or 3B, as it will help a lot. It doesn't help to value draft when you can't start 3 of the 4 guys you draft.

i didn't do my homework and was all set to pick chavez, but didn't realize he was hurt....so i got stuck with Fields. there are some FA left too

fully understand your criticism. Ian Kinsler went one pick before my Francour pick, and that left nothing at 2B or 3B, so I got some more outfielders. I got the next best guy at 2B/3B on my list.....just at much later rounds.

Fields will probably be starting the year in the minors. Sucks because I drafted him too.

No closers? Put some of that outfield talent on the block. I like Diaz as a breakout though.
