10 team league

2 QB / 3 RB / 3 WR / 2 TE / 2 K / 2 DEF

"If anyone pulls down a TE or Kicker in the top two rounds, it'll be a bit interesting. At least we wouldn't be in person this year."

He's basically saying you'd be a moron, but at least we won't be in person for you to get made fun of. Now, a K in the first 2 is moronic in pretty much any league, but is Gates such a bad pick-up in Rd 2 given the 20 starting TEs?

 
3 RB is actually fewer than a 16 team, start 2 RB league.

So it's slightly fewer RBs/WRs than a normal league and pretty significantly more QBs and TEs (20 vs 16).

 
In a 2QB system, I probably look at definitely landing either Palmer or Manning, then targeting Bulger or Brooks late.

3RBs will be easy to fill, even though that's 30 RBs. you can fill out your lineup in 5-7 when everyone is drafting QBs.

That actually sounds fun... for being different I guess.

unless, of course, he is the commish; then would a foolish-fool in fact be wise?

:eek: Did you use some sort of math to figure that out, or is it a guess?

 
Assuming there is no ppr and using the worst starter baseline, Antonio Gates is ranked 7th overall in the DD. If it's ppr, he moves up to 5th. I don't think taking him at the end of the 2nd would be foolish at all.

I'd take Adam Vinatieri due to his intangibles in the 1st round.

If you would grab a kicker or TE in the 1st 2 rounds in that setup, we can send you an invite to my league. We need more $ in the pot.

 
I'd go BPA with QB/RB for the first four rounds at least. I gotta say though, this is the way to do a 10-teamer

 
What hit me immediately was, WHY are you even in this league? If you don't like the rules, move on. Likely, your lame swipe at the commish being a fool will not be your only attempt to undercut the commish this year. I have nothing to do with this league, but have replaced troublemakers myself-and will do so again-if necessary. Enjoy the game for what it is, or start up your own league.

 
Ran it through the ole DD . Assumed 24 rounds of drafting and used FBG Survivor scoring, which has 1PPR for RB and WR and 2PPR for TEs........

1-9 RBs

10 A.Gates (TE1)

11-16 RBs

17 P.Manning (QB1)

18-20 RBs

21 C.Johnson (WR1)

PK1 is 82nd

Loose the PPR for all positions and you have:

1-11 RBs

12 P.Manning (QB1)

13-21 RBs

22 A.Gates (TE1)

23 C.Johnson (WR1)

PK1 is 75th

So without PPR, your commish is actually correct in that you don't want to think about Gates until round 3 after you have 2 solid RBs. In the 2nd scenario, basicly ANYONE going anything except RB or P.Manning in round 1 or 2 is doing you a favor and letting talet slide your way.

In a start 2QB league Manning is the 17th best overall?Wow, I would have thought the top QB would be MUCH higher.

What baseline did you use? The default Joe's Secret Formula? Try using worst starter and both Gates and Manning move up quite a bit.
 
I think that in that league, top TEs improve relative to top WRs. But not as much to RBs.

I would probably take RB-RB in the first 2 rounds. You start 3 each week! You wanna risk having to start 2 out of 3 schmucks? Not me.

I NEVER EVER take a QB early in start 2 QB leagues (apprently I am the only one). Never ever. I understand that lots of people THINK you should, but wait until value comes to you. I take mine in rounds 6 to 9 in start 2 QBs.

With that said, I would look at Manning in the 2nd. Any QB that is there about 10 picks longer than his ADP is noteworthy.

And I am scared of Gates this year, preferring to wait for Gonzo.

Eaaaaasy. I just thought it was absurd that he'd go as far as mocking someone for taking Gates in the 2nd. The only time I was a trouble maker is when he rejected a trade involving Priest for Gates with 2 other mid-round guys in it. He said Priest was better than the 3 other people in the trade put together and rejected it.The consensus seems to be that it's borderline and pending PPR (the commish hasn't established any scoring yet despite my repeated requests).On second thought, maybe I am the trouble maker but this guy needs one.
