I have seen:

A grand slam (Terry Puhl)

A pitcher hit a homerun (Greg Maddux)

I've always wanted to see a brawl.

So far I'm the only one with no-hitter. I should put an asterisk next to it....it was about 4-5 years ago when like 7 Astros pitchers no-hit the Yanks.

Don't even get me started on my near no-hitters. Was supposed to go to a Yanks/Mariners game with my dad but wanted to watch the Knicks playoff game since it was more important than some May Yankee game. So of course Gooden's no-no.

Planned to go to a Sunday game in 98 with my buddies, but it was my cousin's graduation party so I convinced everyone to wait for me and go another day. Wells perfect game.

Had planned on going to Yogi Berra Day with my brothers but accidentally set my alarm for 10 pm instead of am. Woke up late and decided to stay home. Cone perfecto.

The thing is, it's not like I often plan on going to games and then fail to go. These are 3 of the maybe 5-6 times in my LIFE where I was supposed to go to a game and didn't.

The one small solace is that the game we went to instead of the Wells game was that Tuesday night against the O's. Benitez/Strawberry/Graeme Lloyd brawl. I also saw a Mets/Padres brawl started by Kevin Elster in Davey Johnson's last game as manager. And I saw a Yanks/Jays brawl where Irabu charged the plate after hitting someone.

As for the others, saw Clemens' 300th win, lots of grand slams, walkoff hits/HR (Giambi's GS against Min and Leyritz in 95 against Sea being the 2 best), lots of multi-HR games, several fans running on the field (including the girl who gave Jeter her # years ago), seeing a WS clincher, seeing Jeter and Bernie's 2,000th hits, Gooden hitting a HR, and probably a few more unique things I'll try to remember.

Oh yeah Clemens 300th win was also his 4000th strikeout game, and I once saw a double complete game where Halladay shut out the Yanks to beat Randy Johnson. Hinske 2-run HR only scoring, and the game was over in about 2 hours. Also saw the hr Derby and All Star Game in the Bronx in 08Cool thread.

I had a shot to go to this game and sit in the bleachers for free. I had a softball game that morning and would have missed the first few innings so I didn't go. We lost like 19-6. :lmao:

Great stuff, Michael Brown.

My boss is the most button-down conservative guy you could ever meet, but he loves telling about seeing a pitcher for the Cubs named Mike Krukow hit a young Dave Winfield of the San Diego Padres, and Winfield charging the mound.

He tells how one of the Cub relief pitchers jogging in from the bullpen tripped over his feet and fell flat on his face at about the 3rd baseline.

I have been at 2 games where brawls have ensued. The first was I'd guess mid 1990's. Braves vs. Mets. John Smoltz hit John Cangelosi and he charged the mound. Benches cleared. The second was the legendary brawl between the Yankees and Orioles in the late 90's.

I always wanted to goto a doubleheader (two games for the price of one) so I convinced my father & brothers to go to a dh vs det. The first game went 17 innings lol

Pretty sure I've seen a shut out, just can't name the time and place.

I've seen multiple HRs many times. 1st one I remember was Harold Baines hitting 3 against the Tigers in 1982

Saw Sutcliffe hit a HR in game 1 of the 1984 NLCS

The first game I ever attended was a complete game shutout by Jim Slaton in 1978. The second one was a double header between Detroit and Milwaukee in 1985. Evans hit a grand slam to win game one. That was also the day that Carew got his 3,000 hit and Seaver reached 300 wins.

Grand slams- Barry Lyons, Carlos Delgado

Two home runs in one game- Jeff Bagwell

Complete game shutouts- Curt Schilling, Jon Lieber

Walk off home run- Mike Piazza

Walk off hit- Brian Giles

6+ innings pitched in relief- Terry Leach, Lenny DiNardo

Both starting pitchers threw at least 120 pitches- Andy Benes vs Bret Saberhagen 7-15-94, Jason Johnson vs David Cone 7-2-99 and Jason Schmidt vs Al Leiter 5-6-04

Bret Saberhagen's line on 7-27-92: 4 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 SO

Two games in which the Padres defeated the Mets 2-1 in 14 innings- once in New York and once in San Diego

The first occasion was the second game of a doubleheader in 1994. The starting pitchers were Andy Benes and Bret Saberhagen.

Benes: 8 IP, 1 BB, 14 SO

Saberhagen: 10 IP, 0 BB, 11 SO

In 14 innings the teams combined for 16 hits, four walks, and 30 strikeouts.

Mike Maddux allowed two home runs in the 14th inning.

No earned runs allowed by either team- Cardinals vs Mets 4-30-95

brawl

perfecto

3000th hit

300th win

haven't seen those. at least, i don't remember a brawl. i've probably seen the benches clear, but it wasn't memorable.

i assume you mean in person.

i've seen a pitcher pitch a no-hitter AND hit a home run in the same game, albeit on TV, but I've also seen a no-hitter in person.

i guess we don't have people who go to a lot of games. its not hard to see most of these.

The best pitching duel I attended was that Benes vs Saberhagen game less than a month prior to the strike in 1994.

That matchup would be 5th on my list of notable pitching matchups regardless of actual result in the game. Walking into the various stadiums before the games, these four matchups were a little more intriguing than the Benes-Saberhagen one-

Bret Saberhagen vs Curt Schilling

Doug Drabek vs Dwight Gooden

Jason Schmidt vs Al Leiter

Felix Hernandez vs Rich Harden

The two worst matchups I saw-

Ryan Bowen vs Pete Smith

Jason Johnson vs Hayden Penn

Have watched him pitch twice for my Pirates this year. I hope there isn't a third time.

When I saw him pitch for Baltimore, it was one of his first Major League games. It may have even been his first start. I'd have to look it up. He looked okay that day but never really panned out.

I was at David Cones perfect game. One of the best days of my life.
I was there too. Great game.I have been to a lot of baseball games since I was a kid so I have been lucky enough to see almost all of the things on that list. Good times.

The no no is my holy Grail, just missed on doc's, had a test the next day and didn't go in with my buddies. I rue the day. Saw Abbott and Wang take them into the 8th.

Saw hojo and Jorge hit switch hit hrs.

Saw mike stanely hit 3 home runs in a game

saw an Larissa showalter brawl

Have seen a walk off world series homer from Chad Curtis

a series winning homer from Aaron Boone

Game 6 world series winner last year

I'm also sure I saw a complete game shut out along the way.

I was at the 15 inning Boston yankees game and the 14 inning all star game

the last game at Yankee stadium

the first games at new Yankee stadium

more grannies, walk offs and multi homer game by guys than I can count

saw Roberto Kelly get 5 hits in a game, and I think a few other guys too but Roberto was my favorite player when I was 13.

I also caught a nokes home run and made sportscenter

and I saw the yanks come back from 10-1 down in a game

wow I'm pretty lucky in retrospect! More to come as I think of them!

i am 47, have been going to games since i was 5 or 6, maybe younger, and i have never gotten a foul or home run. i guess i have a chance at a HR at my next game - May 17 Pirates at Phillies in the RF lower level. maybe Garrett Jones will get a hold of one.

I gloved a Dale Murphy 2-hopper down the LF line during BP at a Mets game when I was about 12 and he was with the Phils. Got him to autograph it too, which was cool.Better story: I was at a Yanks/Jays game at the Stadium back in late 1992. We bought tickets off a scalper outside, it was the last home game of the year I believe. When we get to our seats, we're in field level on the 3B side (although more behind the plate). Some guy shows up and says we're in his seats (we were) but he said it was no big deal and he'd sit somewhere else. During the game, my brother wants a sandwich so my dad goes into his duffel bag to get one for him. Robbie Alomar hits a screaming liner back right at us. My little brother was ducking down to get the sandwich he dropped, otherwise he might be my late little brother. The ball bounces off the seat behind him, back forward off the railing in front of us, and into my dad's bag. He reaches in and fishes out this foul ball, my brother had no idea what was going on, and I'm going nuts. My father offers it to the guy whose seats we were in as I PLEAD with him not to, and the guy of course declines.

I also remember that as the game J.T. Snow got his first major league hit, and there was about a 2 hour rain delay during which the Yankees scoreboard played Looney Tunes for just about the entire time!

BP balls don't count. That's just common sense.

Dozens of shutouts. Mostly by Nolan Ryan growing up in Anaheim.

Several grand slams. Matt Williams in his 2nd/3rd call up off Nolan Ryan at the Stick with FIL.

Several brawls.

Adam Kennedy 3-HR in ALCS.

Saw Ryan pitch two 1-hitters. One was a bunt by a CLE hitter in first inning. Saw Don Sutton retire first 22 Pirates and then lose.

I've seen Chili Davis pitch in a MLB game.

3000 hit-yes 300 win-yes ITP HR - about 5. Walk off hit - probably a few dozen.

Two triple plays.

Saw Ken Landreaux in his first MLB game take a one-hopper at base of CF wall (slightly towards RF) at Big A and throw a strike in the air to 3B to nail a guy. Still by far the best throw I've ever seen.

I saw Gene Mauch bring in an OF'er to be the 5th IF'er in the ninth, and the first pitch went 8 feet over the catchers head. FAIL.

Been to every stadium except Minnesota, Tampa, Cleveland, Philly, Florida, and Milwaukee.

Saw nine straight WS games-in-a-row. 2001 Gm6/7 in Arizona and 2002 Game 1-7 SF/ANA

Game 7 in AZ and Game 6 in ANA were the best games I've ever seen.

I have been at 2 great comeback games by the Yankees too. One was against the Brewers in the early 90's when Milwaukee was in the AL. I think the Yanks were down by 8 in the 6th inning. The other was in 2006 against Texas, probably the wildest game I have ever been at live, in any sport, in my life. Box Score

yeah, that Texas game is the one I was talking about! And you felt in the park that they had a shot because ranger pitching was so brutal

Has anyone ever seen a streaker?
I have and when I was young, it seemed like every game had the obligatory drunk rushing the field and tiring out the fat security guards running around the outfield, to monster cheers. I also saw Morganna do her thing. What I would love to be part of and I don't know when this last happened is a field rushing deal after a big win, like the Chris Chambliss homer or one of the Mets playoff wins in 86. Looked awesome, but its a collective choice and people just lack the certain something to do that anymore!

Saw another 3 home run game on Saturday, with Tex going yard. Part of our criteria here should be, you actually have to have SEEN what we're talking about, the ballpark was nothing but Yank fans when Tex hit it.

Another oddity in the same game, a position player pitched.

Saw a brawl and a grand slam in the same game - Angels vs. Dodgers June 5, 1999 Chan Ho Park tried to go kung fu with some flying kick on former Dodger Tim Belcher and then former Angel Devon White hit a grand slam later.

Saw a walk off dinger as Todd Zeile took Troy Percival deep in June 1997 in interleague play.

Watched the Dodgers blow a 10 run lead, including giving up 9 in the 9th (thanks to a few Jose Offerman errors). That was unreal. Kruk hit a dinger to give the Phillies the lead and as he was coming up, I remember telling my dad, "This guy can hit it out of the ballpark." Boom. That sucked.

For some reason, the name Rod Booker is ringing a bell with regard to that game. Didn't he do something there or is it another game?

Grand Slam - most recently Kosuke vs the Diamondbacks

Walk off HR - Sosa against the Mets in May of 1996, it hit off a building in Waveland, it was a group ditch during my senior year of high school and the ball flew directly above our heads in the bleachers

Multiple HR day - Sosa

Pretty sure that is all.

Actually, I believe I did see Marquis homer once.

Only four homeruns have ever been hit out of Dodger stadium, two were by Willie "Pop's" Stargell in 1969 and 1973. I happen to be at both of those games. I was not a season ticket holder, just a very lucky Pirate fan raised in Los Angeles. Those will be some games I'll never forget.

If college baseball counts, I saw Drew Stubbs hit a two-run home run in the 10th to beat Oklahoma 2-0 one night and Adrian Alaniz follow it up with a no-hitter the next night.

I was at Fenway in July 2004 for the Yankees-Red Sox brawl after ARod got hit by a pitch. My friends and I were in the 4th row directly behind the Red Sox on deck circle, so the brawl happened right in front of us. And the game also had an incredible ending. First off, Manny flied out off Rivera to the wall with a runner on and the Sox down by 1 to end the 8th. Then Lowell hit a walk off homer off Rivera with a runner on in the bottom of the 9th to win it.

I was at another game in 2004 when Orlando Cabrera hit a walk off homer to win the game at Fenway.

I was at a game in Denver, I think also in 2004, when Dante Bichette hit home runs in his first two at bats and threw out two runners at the plate within the first 4 innings, then got the rest of the day off.

I was at a game in 2007 at Wrigley when Zambrano toook a no hitter into the 8th inning but ultimately lost 1-0 on a solo home run. There was also a brawl in that game after Derek Lee was hit by a pitch.

I was at Joe Robbie Stadium when McGwire hit 56 and 57 in his record breaking season. The home crowd booed its team when McGwire walked in his first two at bats and cheered when he homered in his next two at bats.

Good times.

Other things to add would be:

Outfield collision where neither player is able to get up afterwards.

14+ inning game

I looked it up. He pinch hit in the 9th and got a walk, a hit, and scored two runs. Von Hayes robbed Jose Gonzalez of a home run earlier in the game (I remember thinking, "At least it doesn't matter since the Dodgers are up 10") and Fernando Valenzuela pinch hit in the bottom of the 8th. That guy, aside from being a great pitcher, was a good hitter too.

Was at Gooden's no hitter.

Was at the Mets playoff game where Todd Pratt hit a walk-off, series ending home run.

I have seen 6 of the things listed (I go to way too many Reds games). I've seen 2 brawls that I can remember off the top of my head. Last year, was in the house for the Reds/Cards brawl. It looked like a rugby scrum at the end with the entire pile getting pushed back into the net. The oddest part about that brawl was the managers. There were a bunch of players trying to break things up or at least contain the fight and the 2 managers were provoking everyone and kept everything going.

The only better one I've seen live was Paul Wilson vs the Cubs (Kyle Farnsworth). Everyone had come to see the hype of Mark Prior, but Wilson was stealing the show and dominating the Cubs. Farnsworth was still known as a crazy, young fireballer with no control and he threw at Wilson. Wilson is the only pitcher I've ever seen charge the mound. Wilson got bodyslammed by Farnsworth who is a big dude and he got bloodied up in the fight, but he just kept going. The most memorable part of that one was watching him walk back to the dugout bleeding and still pissed off.

As for the best things I've seen live...

1. Walk off grand slam when down 3 (adam dunn vs indians)

2. Walk off 3 run shot on opening day (Thursday!)

3. Sammy Sosa's 500th HR

I've seen a bunch of the offensive ones in Cincy, but the pitching ones not so much. Not too surprising really.

I've seen multiple Grand Slams.

I've seen the benches clear a few times, but never an all-out brawl.

I've seen at least 3 guys hit 3 HRs in a game (Ruben Sierra at YS in '95 (whole stadium was chanting RU-BEN! RU-BEN! RU-BEN! during the last AB he hit one, place went bananas when he did), Mike Stanley at YS in '95 (one to Left, one to Right, one to Center), ARod last August at Kauffman Stadium in KC (got his autograph before the game that day)). Also saw ARod hit 49,50,51 and 52 over 3 games at Kauffman Stadium in '07. My sister has a sweet picture of him just-after-contact on one of them.

Don't think I've seen anybody hit for the cycle.

I've seen a couple different pitchers hit HRs.

Haven't seen a no-no or perfect game.

Haven't seen either of the milestones. I was in the house, though, for what would have been Clemens' 300th win at Detroit, but the bullpen blew the game. Game ended up going 17 innings. David Wells pitched 5.2 out of the pen and got the win. Crazy, crazy game.

I've seen multiple Walk-off hits (Tigers against the Yanks in Detroit in the early 90s, Cardinals against the Yanks in STL are 2 I remember off the top of my head).

I saw Jeter hit an Inside the Park HR at KC.

I was at Randy Johnson's 300th win.

Saw a grand slam at the first ball game I can remember going to, back when I was 7 or 8 (Barry Lyons).

My nearest miss is being at the Yankees-M's playoff game when Leyritz hit the walkoff HR in extra innings. My dad made us leave after the 9th inning because I had school the next day. :hot:

ETA: And complete game shutout. Saw Pedro throw one in a regular season duel against Clemens. Probably the greatest regular season game I've ever been to.
