how much do you tip here? (1 Viewer)

what exactly does a VIP table get you?
1. You dont have to wait on line. For a bachelor party its pretty much a requirement cuz bouncers typically dont let 10 dudes into the club together without VIP.

2. A place to sit. Important when drunk women need a place to sit down they tend to gravitate towards the VIPs

3. A waitress so you dont have to goto the crowded bar to get a drink

Thats about it. Its a colossal BS money grab but unfortunately cuz of #1 almost a requirement for a bunch of guys.

I'm thinking Atlantic City on a weekday isn't the same as Manhattan on a weekend. That table he got probably would have sat empty. If not, the manager/owner would be livid if it only produced $25.

Depends on the club. Monday night is the big night for Murmur. And who said anything about Manhattan on a weekend?

Just comparing one extreme to another. I've been to Atlantic City once. Would never go back. What I saw was a ####hole. I've seen pictures that say otherwise, so my perspective probably isn't all inclusive of the entire Atlantic City experience, but it didn't look to me to be the residence of tons people who go out spending big bucks on VIP tables on Thursday nights. The fact that this VIP table produced only $25 for the club coraborates my view. It probably would have sat empty if the OP didn't show up.

Like I said depends on what club. If it was in Borgata or Harrahs you couldnt be more wrong.

% gets rounded up for a friend in the first place, so whatever the expected tab is + 10%. If you were charged $25 and expected the bill to be $50 then I'd pay a total of $55.

Gotta tip in cash too. A $25 bill with a $30 tip would look odd in an audit, if she does this for other good friends as well and an audit uncovers them that could spell problems for her. She can then under report her earnings to Uncle Sam too. She already does, but even more so if tipped in cash.

I don't go to clubs in AC very often. And I don't get waited on by a friend of the wife. And she doesn't hook us up with what I take to be a pretty substantial discount.

I'm assuming the same is true of you, but if this is something that happens to you pretty frequently, I think you did fine. A good, healthy tip.

But if this occurrence is as rare for you as it would be for me, I'd tip excessively. The good will created in your circle of friends would be more than worth the loss of a little extra walking around cash for the evening. Make the girl's night. Because why the #### not?

If you got a big drink discount, then at least some of that is going back to the person giving me the discounts. If you paid 25, would normally have paid 60 meaning probably like 70 with tip, I'd probably give 25 as a tip. You saved 20 bucks and someone gets a nice tip.

I wouls say between $30-$50 depending on how much the drinks are. You got a VIP space and free drinks....It is amazing how much business owners lose on scams like this. I guess it is built into the price of the drinks.

Ya. I'm less of a big shot than JC, but I partially agree. We're dealing in cash here so some of you guys calculating percentages are irrelevant IMO. I'm leaving a $50 bill or 3 $20s depending on which is more convenient. No need to do math and deal with small bills IMO.

Well my beers were only 7 bucks regularly and my wife's drinks about the same think. So i guess actually would have been maybe 50 for drinks?

I gave her 25 but feel like i under tipped this morning
You doubled it--that's what I was going to suggest when reading the op.

Would have left $100, making it a $75 tip.
this was my first impression too.
That is the play if you expect the same kind of treatment the next time.
This is cool too though a bit much for my play.
