The anti-Philly agenda by the media goes back much further than 11 years...trust me.

And I'm curious as to the philly fans you know because he was a hero in this town up until the Super Bowl loss to NE. He started to take somewhat of a "bashing" from that point forward. Before that, I don't EVER remember him getting booed. EVER. And no, I do not count the draft because not one of those boos was for him personally.

You know, there was only a group of about 30 or so Philly fans that were there to promote the "pick Ricky" agenda....do you think that maybe, just maybe, a good portion of the boos may have come from the thousands of other fans in attendance? Including hundreds of Giants fans? That would hurt the great story that the media has going though about how poor Mcnabb had to endure boos on draft day from his hometown fans....all 30 of them.

You guys are weak...
Exactly, I wish that once the story was set straight, no one could wrongly use it as an example, which just gets beyond tired. The 'dirty thirty' were a group organized by arguably the biggest POS on local sports radio, Angelo Cataldi of 610 WIP. Their charge was to go up tp NY, act the part of the tough guy and cheer like hell when Ricky Williams was drafted. Andy Reid's first pick deflated their entire agenda and they booed the NON-PICK OF RICKY WILLIAMS. They did not boo the Donovan McNabb pick. Please stop buying the BS and look it up yourself.BTW, Cataldi has been attempting to organize a group to go to the game and boo McNabb. It is extremely vocal minorities like him and his callers that lend credence to the heavily publicized but completely false view that 'Philly Fans are the worst'. Check out yearly ticket sales for the Eagles, Phillies and Flyers over the last ten years then try to post with a straight face that Philly Fans are the worst.

Give me a break.
Cataldi is a moron but thats his schtick. He rips Eskin for being a moron but he's just as bad. That whole station is pretty much a joke anymore.

Players have been traded or signed elsewhere and come back to play against their old teams many times in the past....does anyone EVER remember this much debate over how the fans will treat a returning player? This thing is being hyped to death with the media praying that the entire stadium boos him because it makes their job soooo much easier.

If we boo him, it's the lead story and the media gets to pull out their Santa, battery, snowball references and any other anti Philly fan content they can get their hands on. If he is cheered, it becomes an "oh by the way" segment. No one wants to report on the classy reception for Mcnabb by the Philly fans......and no one will.

I unfortunately think he'll get booed because the local sports media has taken the opportunity this week to fuel the fire and get the fans riled up to boo him....
Name one of those players that were booed by their fan from the day he was drafted, through 11 years and five NFC titles. Philly fans generated this "hype".
A) He was booed by 30 idiots from a local sports radio station. The majority of fans didn't really know him. When he played we loved him. B) He was not booed for 11 years. We cheered him 99% of the time for the last 11 years.

C) The media generated this "Hype." From local sports talk show idiots to the national ESPN talking heads, everyone has a picture of Philadelphia as a town of ungrateful idiots that drive their stars away from here. For those that live here, they know that its a very vocal minority that acts like idiots.
Got it. Philly fans only booed McNabb 1% of the time. The media has had an eleven year unwarranted conspiracy against Philly fans. Thanks for the info. All the Philly fans that I know who have been bashing McNabb since he was drafted just happen to fall into that 1%.
Glad we cleared that up then. :wall:
Ok, I'll give you that one.

Is that what we're doing? Just posting youtubes that support fan behavior? I can post 50+ that show NY fans in the same light.....what's your point?

The first one, Mcnabb getting booed at the draft sounded like more than the 30 Eagles fans there don't you think?

You will hear zero arguments from me brother. I hate Eskin, but I actually despise Cataldi more. Haven't listened to 610 in a while, usually 950. I am pretty tired of Missinelli as well but he is light-years better than anyone down the dial.

Yea Mikey Miss annoys me when he feels the need to be a contrarian to start conflict. But he is by far more entertaining than Anyone on 610. Only one I enjoy is Didinger on Saturdays. I actually get real football insight then. Even Anthony annoys me anymore.

They all benefit from stirring the pot with increased calls and more listeners....they tend to incite more than discuss issues in a rational fashion. Cataldi getting a group together to boo Mcnabb on Sunday scares me....

He literally wants a "circus." He tried to see if the city would let him have live farm animals for their march from the Spectrum.

Funny thing is, Cataldi isn't even from Philly. He's from Rhode Island and actually a Yankees fan. Imagine, the person responsible for one of the worst incidents (from a reputation standpoint) is a Yankees fan from Rhode Island.

Boo the best QB they had in Franchise history?
It's close, but Randall Cunningham might at least say :)
Better Athlete but McNabb was the better QB.
:D it's pretty close, especially if you take into account Cunningham's 4900 career rushing yards, not to mention his 51.7 yards per punt average as an Eagle. :kicksrock: Don't get me wrong, I like McNabb, and this is probably better if it were a poll (or at least it's own thread), but I'll take the slightly lower passing stats to get the rushing too. Keep in mind the different eras as well. McNabb is working in a more pass-friendly NFL. Randall would likely put up similar QB numbers to McNabb if he played now, and he could still run.ETA: Poll is posted, and early on, Mcnabb fans might be suprised.

Packer fans (who fancy themselves to be the best fans in the NFL)...booed Brett Favre on his return to Green Bay. Be ironic to see the supposed worst fans in the NFL cheer McNabb on his return.

The 30 fans who didn't mean to boo McNabb are getting together to do it again.

Well on Sunday, Cataldi is forming up the Dirty 30 again, only this time—they intend to boo McNabb, who will be wearing the enemy colors of the visiting Washington Redskins after 11 productive years with the Eagles.
This time, however, the boo rally won’t be a spontaneous reaction, but a choreographed boofest orchestrated by the reluctant maestro who put the first McNabb boo chorus together, however accidental it was.
Now as I wind down my radio career, I’m going to be remembered as the guy who got 30 big fat puking drunks together to boo McNabb—not as an articulate journalist who contributed something
So now new wheels will be spinning again on Sunday, 11 years later, and will feature an interesting cast of characters that will come in all different shapes and sizes, led by a partially blind man called “Coma Jim” who was actually once in a coma and resembles the John Belushi character in Blues Brothers (we’re not making this stuff up). Cataldi will be leading the chaos again as the piped piper, along with a circus caravan that includes a Michael Jackson impersonator, a man on stilts, an accordion player, various entertainers from local adult clubs, and they’ll all be marching down Pattison Avenue at 2:30 and convening on the Spectrum steps. All to do one thing—and intend it this time—boo Donovan McNabb. It’s something Cataldi and his loud group relish.

Well, if these 30 clowns (led by the media no less) are the only ones to boo, I am sure ESPN will plant their cameras and mics right smack in the middle of that group....it's a no win situation today ...

Yes. It will sound like booing because of this to everyone at home, but I have my chips on actual cheers. As many infomercial spokespeople have said: "I guarantee it." :loco:
