How's the KC Safety position going to pan out? (1 Viewer)

IIRC Wesley is still there but they've got loads of potential in both Page and Pollard. Who are the early line favorites for the starting gig? Any chance Wesley gets cut?

Thanks for the heads up and sorry for the repeat.

I was considering a run at Pollard but wasn't sure if anyone had any updated info. Looks like this one may not get sorted out in the short term, unless of course Wesley gets traded/cut.

Probably need to wait for mini camps of training camp.

from PFW (nothing new really, & doesn't address question of who between pollard & page would be more likely to start if wesley remains)...

"Confidence in Ty Law and Patrick Surtain, his two veteran corners, could lead Chiefs head coach Herman Edwards to go with a pair of second-year safeties in the starting lineup in Jarrad Page and Bernard Pollard. SS Sammy Knight has already been released, and FS Greg Wesley is believed to be on thin ice in terms of his starting job because of his penchant for giving up big plays. Free-agent signee Jon McGraw also figures into the mix despite making only 13 career starts in five years."

I think it is a long way from being settled. I do have a couple thoughts:

1) Edwards didn't hesitate to use young DBs while @ NYJ.

2) Page came in when Knight was injured off & on last year, not Pollard. Pollard barely saw the field.

3) Page's draft position fell to the sixth round because of concerns about his baseball career.

This all leads me to believe Page is the guy to roster, but it could be both Page and Pollard on the field in 2007.

Chiefs | Could have two new starting safeties

Sun, 1 Apr 2007 14:37:46 -0700

Adam Teicher, of the Kansas City Star, reporting for the Sporting News, reports with FS Greg Wesley on the trade block, the Kansas City Chiefs could have two new starting safeties in 2007. SS Jarrad Page and SS Bernard Pollard, both who were rookies last year, could end up starters, with Page starting at free safety.

Chiefs trying to trade Wesley.
