Made the swap up to Alpha 2 this weekend. I used the wrong Acme and ended up in a reboot loop and had to doctor it. No big deal. This is quite good.

Is flash working in CM9? I thought it was working in CM7.

I also went from 0.6 to 2 this weekend. Can definitely see some improvement with video. Flash seems to be working fine for me. Have 11.1.115.6 installed.

I should say it is not working in chrome. I guess I could try dolphin.
I tried it with dolphin & the stock browser.Does chrome work at all for you? I just installed it, but when trying to open it it says, "Chrome is not supported for your version of Android. Version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is the minimal supported version."

Sounds like there's a workaround, though.

Chrome is fine for everything but flash so far. I didn't apply this workaround, but maybe when I pulled the files they had already incorporated it?

We will be ceasing publication of the Tablet Edition [sports Illustrated] on the HP Touchpad with the 03/19/12 issue
No surprise. Wonder how many more of these types of e-mails are coming for apps for WebOS?
HP and the SPORTS ILLUSTRATED team intend to explore alternative means for future delivery of the SPORTS ILLUSTRATED editions to webOS via a cross-platform development project while HP moves webOS to the open source community.

I'm still using this thing basically every day. 98% of the time on Android. This would have been a killer ~350 android tablet at launch.

:goodposting: Although when I do go quickly go back over to WebOS for one thing or another, I find myself thinking it's a shame that it didn't work out. There are some things I really like about that OS.

If it gets truly developed as an insurgent open source OS I will absolutely go back. Especially as the world gets less app-centric over time.

I was looking to switch to an Android OS and came here for info but saw that there is a Jelly Bean OS introduced in June. Anybody try this thing out?

CM10 is out with JB support, but from what I understand this still lacks video and audio acceleration.

Unless it has changed this week, there is just a "preview" for Jelly Bean. ICS is stuck in limbo between the "release version" for most devices and the now weekly builds for the TP since the camera still doesn't work (at least a week ago). Also note that the "GOO" servers has had problems for a few weeks and older links (and even relatively recent ones) are broke all over the web.

To get started I'd say start here. The link that I originally used with step by step instructions was this one, but that will be horribly outdated by now so probably best to use the various

on YouTube.

LG purchases WebOS (most of it) from HP.http://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/2013/02/25/hp-finally-parts-with-webos-in-lg-electronics-deal/1947761/

FYI

Went into webOS mode for the first time in a long time....

Mandatory webOS system update

A certificate used on webOS devices expires on July 23, 2013. For the system to be able to use cloud services such as Backup/Restore and App Catalog the certificate needs to be updated.

Beginning June 6th an automatic update to the Application Catalog has replaced the certificate. That means that if your device is running webOS “2.1” or greater you can have the certificate installed automatically by activating your device and accepting the update.

If your device is running a webOS version older than “2.1”, or you want to manually install, go to the HP App Catalog on your device and select the app called “App Catalog Update”, download and install it on your system.

Then again it has been months since in Android mode other than using this as a digital picture frame.

Finally upgraded this thing to CM 10. I still like webOS better if it had apps. But still pretty good tablet for 99 bucks

I doubt anyone is still using WebOS, but if you are the "cloud services" end in January.

Q: What features will no longer function after the services are shut down?A: The webOS devices will continue to work without cloud services. However the following features will no longer be available:

  • Downloading of new apps or updates. The HP App Catalog will be unavailable after the shutdown.
  • Backup or restore devices from the cloud
  • Setup new devices
  • Lost passwords will no longer be recoverable
